Coolsculpting for arm fat
This is a very big problem for many people. Coolsculpting has recently been FDA approved for treating upper arm fat, so the answer is yes it can be used to treat this problem.
However, you have to be a good candidate for the treatment to be successful.
The size and shape of the arm fat is important to assess, because it has to conform to the shape of the Coolsculpting applicator.
Also, sometimes when the fat is reduced in the upper arm it will increase the laxity of the skin in the upper arm which is not desirable.
In my opinion, it is important to combine a skin tightening treatment such as Venus legacy with upper arm Coolsculpting fat reduction to get the best result, and we will not perform it any other way.
Sometimes the problem is more about loose or lax skin in the upper arm vs. fat in the upper arm or a combination of both.
The best thing to do is to seek out an expert Coolsculpting practice and have a consultation/examination to determine if you are a good candidate and what the best course of action is for your particular situation. (Paul Flashner, MD, Boston Physician)
Upper Arm
The upper arms can be treated with Coolsculpting. Prior to any treatment, you should have a consultation with a certified provider to determine if you are an appropriate candidate.

CoolSculpting the upper arm
CoolSculpting can improve excess fat in the upper arm. It should not be used in arms that are flabby (Bingo Arms). We limit treatment times usually to two, as we don’t want to remove too much fat and cause loose skin.
It is a popular procedure. (Maurice M. Vick, Jr., MD, Baton Rouge Urologist)
CoolSculpting and Upper Arm Fat
Cool Sculpting of the upper arms in not FDA approved and considered off-label use. This is an area I caution patients on because there generally is not enough fat for a reduction as there can be too much skin laxity. (David L. Robbins, MD, FACS, West Des Moines Plastic Surgeon)

Coolsculpting on arm fat
Coolsculpting can certainly be used for arm fat. I would recommend visiting with a board certified plastic surgeon as there are several effective options to address this area including liposuction, short scar arm lift, traditional arm lift and Coolsculpting.
We were the first plastic surgery practice in Houston to adopt Coolsculpting and I can confidently say that Coolsculpting works for the right individual, but many would benefit from other forms of arm contouring. (Young R. Cho, MD, PhD, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
Brand New Arm Applicators!
We are excited to announce that Zeltiq now offers brand new FDA approved arm applicators. Some practices have treated the arms off label in the past; however, the applicators not designed for the arm area
1) don’t always fit the arm area, and 2) can cause symptoms with the ulnar nerve.
The new applicator is designed specifically to treat the upper arm area with incredible results! We are happy to announce that our practice will feature this new applicator upon its release this summer! As always, we encourage getting a consultation to see which treatments options are the best fit for you. (Vincent Marino, MD, Scottsdale Physician)

CoolSculpting can work for arms in right candidate
CoolSculpting for the arms is an off-label use, but can be very effective on the right patient with the right anatomy and when performed by a skilled doctor. We have performed many successful CoolSculpting treatments to reduce arm fat at my practice.

CoolSculpting can be used off label to reduce arm fat. The never applicators make this possible. There is a small risk of temporary arm numbness. For a procedure that requires no anesthesia, is non surgical, and has minimal to no downtime the results can be quite impressive.
Those patients who want even more results and are open to downtime are offered laser liposuction (SmartLipo) or surgical arm lifts. (Ran Y. Rubinstein, MD, Manhattan Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting can be used in selective cases for the upper arm, although it was not designed for this area. The device head may not fit well on the arm. Often the arm tissues are too loose and hanging and therefore, not a good area for coolsculpting. (John Zavell, MD, FACS, Toledo Plastic Surgeon)
Yes, Coolsculpting can be used for the upper arms. However, Coolsculpting for the arms is an off label use which means the FDA has not approved Coolsculpting to be used on the arms as of yet.
