Having hair loss after any
surgery can be anesthesia or stress related. There is always some hair removed
when the excess scalp either above the ear or behind the ear is removed, but if
it is a density situation, this is usually secondary to anesthesia or stress
around the time of surgery and almost always resolves with time. The timeframe
can be anywhere between 3 and 12 months.
I had a facelift two and a half years ago and still feel uncomfortable tightness in neck.

Feeling tightness after a face lift even 2-1/2 years ago is
unusual but not rare. Physical therapy is an excellent modality that can help
relieve this. Other non-western modalities such as acupuncture may indeed be
helpful. I don’t believe there is any contraindication at all undergoing it and
if it is helpful, by all means continue.
Why would doctor do a short scar facelift with incision in front of tragus as opposed to behind it?

The decision to make the incision either in front or behind
the tragus, the tab in the center of the ear, is one of personal choice. Either
are considered very reasonable. More and more surgeons have adopted the
retro-tragal approach, because it does tend to at times be less visible, but
some surgeons believe that placing the incision in front of the tragus,
particularly in men, is preferable.

Numbness after a facelift is actually quite variable.
Certain areas such as around the mouth usually lose no sensation, whereas the
area immediately in front of the ear tends to take the longest time for normal
feeling to occur. In the majority of cases we see, that feeling for the most
part has usually returned within 6 weeks or so. Some areas certainly can take
longer, but 6 weeks seems to be a reasonable time period.

I do
see that you have some very significant lines around the mouth and cheeks, and
in your situation, a combination of face lifting and resurfacing is probably
ideal. Face lifting restores the structure and should be done first and then
following this something to really improve the quality of the skin, such as
laser resurfacing, chemical peels, or even in more severe areas, some
additional dermabrasion. That way you can have the structure corrected and the
surface giving you the very best...
If a filler is injected a short time before a "drains -requiring- Facelift" wouldn't the filler ooze

That is a very good question
and I know you would be concerned about losing the injectibles that were placed
in the drain. Usually the fillers are placed in an area that is not elevated
and not drained, so they, in the vast majority of cases stay put and would not
come out with the drains. Good question, but I think you are safe.

At this point the tissue that was sewn back on your nose
does look compromised, but it still has some coloration in the center. It is
often amazing how much of this replanted skin can survive. Most physicians are
very conservative in their care with this by just doing dressing changes,
keeping it clean and preventing infection. It will continue to resolve on its
own and has a good chance of looking remarkably normal if cared for properly at
this point.

When a dog bites off a portion of the lip and really
traumatizes it, its survival becomes somewhat difficult, but not impossible. At
this point, don’t be discouraged. When tissue is replanted, the most
appropriate follow up is to very carefully observe this and very gently cleanse
it. You will be amazed how much actually does survive, and in the long term how
good it can look. Initially they do look terrible and they often look somewhat
dead with dark coloration, duskiness and crusting....

requiring multiple plates and fixation. As healing goes on however, many of
these plates can be removed safely after there is evidence that the bone itself
has healed. In your community, a number of doctors can address many complex
facial fractures with plates, including plastic surgeons. Sometimes oral and
maxillofacial surgeons and ear, nose and throat surgeons also can treat
patients with facial fractures and similar deformities.

area. These implants are somewhat unusual, not nearly as common as chin
implants or cheek implants, but can be beneficial in this situation. After the
swelling has resolved following surgery, additional fillers or fat grafting may
be necessary to fully blend and achieve the desired result you are looking for.
Is Fat Grafting Possible in Face Reconstruction?
If that area has become soft and is no longer firm, fat grafting is a very useful option in a situation like this.

You are asking an excellent question. First of all,
congratulations on your 100 pound weight loss. That is a great accomplishment.
When someone is really heavy and looses a lot of weight, unfortunately the skin
looses a lot of its elasticity and many times in a situation like yours a body
lift would give the most dramatic significant outcome. An abdominoplasty can
also be performed in an extended fashion with posterior liposuction as an
alternative. Either way a significant amount of skin...

have developed this severe neuropathy of your scalp. At this point consultation
with a neurologist and other providers would be helpful. As plastic surgeons,
we really don’t have much to offer with this situation, but hopefully you can get this resolved with

Certain irregularities are common in the early
weeks after face lifting. Many times we advocate massage, ultrasound and other
therapies to help improve this during the healing phase. Full healing takes a
good 3 months and at that point things usually are fairly fixed. The
irregularities of the neck may improve with conservative means. Occasionally
those do persist and may require some additional lifting.
