Your consultation will allow the plastic surgeon to perform an exam and better understand the extent of your hernia and better plan your combined procedure. If he/she is uncomfortable with the hernia repair portion, it is not uncommon for a general surgeon colleague to repair the hernia and the plastic surgeon to perform the tummy tuck portion.
