” The greatest satisfaction I have is to develop a long term partnership with patients who wish to manage the changes they see in the mirror in a graceful and positive way. I love to help patients rediscover the best version of themselves using medically proven interventions. My professional pursuit is to blend my education in primary care dermatology and keen interest in non surgical techniques with visual art, and aesthetic medicine has been a perfect expression of this passion”

RealSelf Q&A with Dr. Lotay
RS: What makes your practice unique?
HL: “Every one in our practice is focussed on one thing: the patient’s goals and how to get them the best results possible. Our team is passionate about educating themselves and also our patients. We have really made it a priority to keep up with the latest, most effective technologies and techniques available. Often, in this field there is a sense that aesthetic interventions are for those wanting extreme change or to be someone different. We can help you achieve a more dramatic change but also can aim for subtle natural but impactful change. It’s what we are know for.
We make what we do easy to understand and make sure we keep your goals in mind at each step.”

RS: What are you consultations like?
HL: “We offer two options for consultations, in person or online. The consultations are focussed on understanding what you see when you look in the mirror and understanding what you would like to change or improve. We then spend quite a bit of time sharing information on various technologies or interventions and go through some before and afters of our treatments for you to review. The consultation is really a sharing of thoughts and information as well as an opportunity to get all your skincare and aesthetic questions answered. We believe we are starting a longterm friendship with all our guests so its never about pressure or immediate decisions. We are in it with you for the long haul!”

RS: What led you to choose Aesthetic Medicine as your focus?
HL ” Well, I have always loved Anatomy and Surgery or the technical skills in Medicine but I also love visual arts and painting. In fact, one of my paintings really opened up the door for me to study with my mentor in Philadelphia. He admired the painting and was a fabulous artist himself. Upon finishing my training with him, I gifted him the painting which I hope still hangs in his office! I definitely see this field as combining my strengths as well as all the things that give me joy.”

Will there be bruising of my inner and outer thighs with CoolSculpting?
Inner and Outer thigh CoolSculpting
Nov 12, 2017
Bruising with Coolsculpting is very rare and usually happens with the use of applicators that require suction. The outer thighs are treated with flat applicator panels that do not require suction, so no bruising would be expected. You may experience very slight swelling. This inner thigh is typically treated with an applicator that uses suction. This may cause some slight bruising. The newer Advantage applicators use much less suction and therefore bruising is…
If a Dermatologist is familiar with dermoscopy, does this mean that a dermatoscope might be used to
Dermoscopy and hair loss
Sep 11, 2017
Dermoscopy uses magnification and polarized light to examine the skin. Various hair loss conditions display features such as black dots in alopecia areata or scale around the follicular openings in lichen planopliaris. These features along with a careful consideration of the history and pattern of hair loss can be helpful in making a diagnosis in hair loss conditions. Many doctors who perform dermoscopy may be familiar with its use on the scalp.
I’m Latina 3 days post Halo. Should I go back if I’m not seeing any results? How long should I wait
Halo
Sep 1, 2017
Thanks for your question. The reaction you have from the Halo is dependent on whether you had a Halo Pro treatment (ablative and nonablative laser) or Halo (nonablative only). A Nonablative laser does not break the skin and spending on the strength of treatment ( power, depth, and density) done the reaction can vary. I would suggest you return to the provider who performed the procedure and have a conversation about your goals, experience with the current…
Precision TX, Kybella, CoolSculpting Mini, or Neck Lipo to define jawline?
Defined jawline
Aug 30, 2017
From your question it seems like your main concern is jawline definition. Looking at your pictures, I’m not sure a CoolSculpting mini applicator would fit adequately to treat lateral under the jawline fat in you. Kybella should really just be used midline to avoid injury to the marginal mandibular nerve. An in office consultation is a must. You may benefit from using a combination of Botox to treat the platysma along the jawline and fillers to redefine the jawline….
What would be the best treatment for my deep craters?
Acne scars – treatment options
Aug 20, 2017
From your pictures it appears that you are still experiencing active acne. Initially I would suggest seeing someone experienced in acne management to optimimize your skincare so your breakouts are controlled. While this is being done you could consider fillers for the most prominent scars. In our practice we use a combination of ablative and non ablative erbium lasers like Profractional and Halo to improve scars along with surgical techniques such as subcision….
Confused about acne scarring procedures. Is Halo considered an ablative procedure, non-ablative, or
Halo for acne scarring
Aug 1, 2017
Halo is considered a hybrid laser that has both ablative and nonablative components. Both wavelengths are fractional and delivered in a varied and even pattern. The depth of treatment can be varied which is unique to this laser. CO2 can be fractional or fully ablative and there is no nonablative component. Depending on the type of acne scarring that is present, subcision may be helpful. At our clinic we often combine subcision with Halo. Halo…
