Is Coolsculpting Effective On Arms?
Treating the arms with CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting patients get on the average of a 20-25 % reduction of the area treated assuming that they are chosen appropriately.
The CoolSculpting device is limited in that the area treated must fit one of the three handpiences currently available.
The applicators are most appropriate for the abdomen, love handles and back fat. Arms legs and other areas although sometimes possible are frequetly difficult to treat for majority of patients.
I would suggest you visit a local CoolSculpting physician for an evaluation and explanation of the treatment. (Ted Brezel, MD, Long Island Dermatologic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting Complete can be great for arms and now has FDA Clearance
My practice has performed many Coolsculpting Complete procedures on the arms with great success. If your concern is unwanted fat and not excess skin, CoolSculpting can provide fantastic result.
If the concern is loose skin, CoolSculpting will not tighen skin. Many people do elect to have CoolSculpting Complete plus laser skin tightening to eliminate excess fat and firm skin of the arms. (Michael Law, MD, Raleigh-Durham Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting of the upper arms can reduce fat
CoolSculpting of the arms is an off-label procedure as Zeltiq received FDA clearance for the stomach and love handles for the device to freeze fat. About 20 % reduction in fat volume after treatment had been seen by ultrasound at four months when CoolSculpting was done on the abdomen and love handles.
The applicators currently were not designed to fit the upper arms and so the current applicators can be used by physicians at their discretion. We await the company’s manufacture of arm and thigh-specific applicators. (Ronald Shelton, MD, Manhattan Dermatologic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting on the Arms
At this time, CoolSculpting of the Arms is “off label”. The area wanting to be treated needs to be assessed by the doctor to make sure that the treatment will be effective. There are patient’s whose area of concern on the arms does fit into the current CoolSculpting applicator.
Careful measurements need to be taken to ensure that the area fitting into the applicator is not just loose skin either. Zeltiq is coming out with a new handpiece that will be more effective for the arms and legs.
It would be best to be examined by a doctor to see if you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting of the arms. If you are a good candidate and the area is treated, on average, there will be a reduction of 20-25% (Tom J. Pousti, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting for Arms?
Yes, you can do CoolSculpting for reduction of arm fat. I have been doing this for quite a while with very good results. You would have to be evaluated to see if you are a good candidate for CS. (Michael Kerin, MD, New Rochelle Physician)
CoolSculpting is Great for the Arms
You can most definitely treat the upper arms. The tricep area, (the backside of the upper arm) responds very well to CoolSculpting treatments. Most people end up being very good candidates for treatment in this area. (Garry K. Kim, MD, Pasadena Internist)
Coolsculpting on the arms
We commonly treat the triceps/upper arm area and patients are very pleased with the results from Coolsculpting on the arms. We have seen not only fat reduction but skin tightening as well in the treated areas.
The number of applicators that need to be applied and the number of treatments would need to be determined at the time of your consultation. (Grant Stevens, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting can be done on the upper arms. The best way to find out if you are a candidate for CoolSculpting is to have an assessment in the office. The treatment itself takes 35-60 minutes.
Then, results are seen in 1-3 months! (Robert G. Aycock, MD, FACS, Bay Area Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting is great at treating fat at arms. It is non surgical and has no downtime. It would be best to consult with a Coolsculpting certified practice for a proper evaluation and see if you are a good candidate for Coolsculpting. (Alain Michon, MD, Ottawa Physician)
It is possible to consider Coolsculpting. I would have to evaluate though in person to really determine if you a candidate. I would have to make sure that this area has fat by palpating this area.
If there is, then Coolsculpting can be used. Another consideration is that the Coolfit applicator has to fit this area nicely for the treatment to have a good result. This can be determined by placing the applicator first to see if this is a good fit.
If those 2 conditions are met, then Coolsculpting is a great fit. In other patients who have met these 2 criteria, the results have been remarkable and patients have been very pleased. (John Tang, MD, Los Gatos Physician)
The common areas for fat deposition on the arm would be the back side, especially near the elbow. Whether or not Coolsculpting would be of benefit would depend upon your exam, and how much of your issue is fat vs skin.
Another thing to consider would be the fact that the applicators on the arm are sometimes more likely to cause neuropathic pain (burning pain) as there are some sensory nerves that would likely be affected. (Paul H. Rhee, MD, FACS, Castle Rock Plastic Surgeon)
In my experience and as a generalization arms that measure less then 11.5 inches in circumference generally will not show positive changes.
Currently the coolfit used for the arms is suboptimal for some people. (Drew Varano, MD, Washington DC Physician)
It’s impossible to tell if you’d be a candidate for CoolSculpting on your arms without physically examining you to palpate the fat pad on the backs of your arms and assess the skin. If there is localized pinchable subcutaneous fat that can be drawn into the CoolSculpting applicator, then there will be a reduction the fat in that area.
Presently we use the CoolFit applicator to treat the arms, but CoolSculpting is releasing a new CoolAdvantage Petite applicator in the next couple of months that will be even better for arm treatments. (Roby F. Hayes, MD, Portland Physician)
CoolSculpting available for underarm fat
CoolSculpting was recently approved for treatment of fat on the upper arm. To see if you are a candidate for this treatment, you can visit a certified CoolSculpt practice. They can do a personalized evaluation to evaluate your options. (Julie A. Maughan, MD, Ogden Dermatologist)
Coolsculpting is most beneficial to patients who are seeking to reduce stubborn areas of fat. While it can be used to help reduce a “double chin” that is caused by fat, it can not target excess skin.
Coolsculpting works by freezing fat cells. If you are looking to remove excess skin on the arms and neck, you may want to look into getting a surgical Arm Lift and Neck Lift for optimal results. (Mahmood Kara, MD, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting for turkey neck and sagging arms
CoolSculpting can be used to reduce excess fat under the chin and on the arms, but it will not help with sagging skin. An examination of you would be needed to give you the best advice, but it appears from your picture that most of the sagging in your neck is due to excess skin and not fat.
Surgery would really give you the most improvement with this issue. (Michael I. Echavez, MD, San Francisco Facial Plastic Surgeon)
