ask your surgeon if you should do manual massages to assist the implants in
stabilizing their position. A
compression band may or may not be helpful, and you can ask about that as
well. Apart from this, I would say wear
a comfortable support bra, and after you have delivered, normalize your weight
as reasonably as possible, then return to your plastic surgeon for repeat
examination and recommendations.

be safe for you to position yourself any way that you are comfortable for a
massage five months after your surgery.
Typically, I do not place positional restrictions on my patients after
six weeks postop.

I had a DVT from a past knee surgery. Is it safe to have lipo and/or TT with a history of DVT?

You are at
increased risk for a repeat DVT. You do
not say when you had this, however you should ask your surgeon about the
advisability of a preoperative workup and what measures you should take after
surgery. At a minimum, I would have you
wear compression hose and use a sequential compression device for two weeks
after your surgery, as well as an anti-coagulant such as Lovenox. How long you use the anti-coagulant will be for
your consultant to recommend.

this will vary from doctor to doctor, but I advise my patients to wear their
compression garment for six weeks after surgery. If they are comfortable and if the weather is
not too hot, I advise them to wear over-the-counter compression wear, such as
Spanx, for as long as it is comfortable to do so, or until their swelling
resolves to a stable situation.

You do not mention whether or not you have an incisional hernia, and thegeneral surgeon who operated on you, or a plastic surgical consultant should beable to make that diagnosis for you. If you do, it needs to be repaired. If youdo not, you should ask your plastic surgeon whether or not you could have arectus plication and/or a scar revision to improve your appearance.

You do not say how old you are, and it is my experience that
younger patients, such as under 35 years old, have the best potential for
spontaneous recovery of sensibility. If
you have feeling in the nipples, I would be patient and be prepared to observe
the condition for at least a year to see if your sensation returns.

Both saline and silicone implants can produce excellent results. Personally, I only place saline implants under
the muscle, and my preferred location is on top of the muscle, or
subglandular. Saline implants can cause
visible rippling and dimpling in this position, and my preferred implant is
silicone gel. These come in a variety of textures and some are softer and some
are stiffer. You should talk to your
plastic surgeon about your preference and choice.

Which breast augmentation incision is the best? Areola or under the boob?

My preferred incision is
inframammary, which means under the breast.
Skin incisions usually heal about the same in terms of time and quality
of the scar, however cutting around the nipple whether above and below will
predictably take the dissection through lactiferous ducts “milk ducts” which
may contain bacteria and could lead to capsular contracture or implant
infection as well as numbness.

You should wait until your
weight has stabilized and optimized; come as close to your pre-pregnancy weight
as you can. You should make sure that
your skin has stabilized from the standpoint of elasticity. I usually tell my patients to wait six months
after delivering a baby before having an abdominoplasty.
