This is a great question! With a tummy tuck you can expect your lower abdominal stretch marks to be removed. You will still have the stretch marks above your belly button but they will look different after surgery. When you meet with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss surgery have them show you before and after pictures so you can get a better idea of what you can expect after surgery.

I would recommend doing an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area. One of the variables would be the type of pancreatitis you have and if it is a currently active medical issue or something you have had in the past. The use of drains is surgeon and patient specific. Drains help to collect fluid that may accumulate in the post operative period. Depending on your body habitus and how much fat was removed, your surgeon will make the individualized decision on if a drain should be used or not.

Only the anesthesiologist performing your surgery can answer this question. Your nails may prevent the oxygen finger probe from being able to read your saturation during surgery. Your eyelashes may get in the way from the tape used to help keep your eyes moist during surgery. I would recommend following the doctors request for your safety.

Regular massage, the use of a scar gel (I recommend SkinMedica’s scar gel to all of my patients) and the use of lasers to lighten pigment and improve texture may help your scar to fade faster. While Voluma is a wonderful filler, it is probably better suited in the midface or cheek area. Sticking with the Juvederm XC family of fillers, Volbella is a great alternative for that area. Volbella is a thinner consistency so it can be used in the delicate eye area and still maintain a smooth, natural look.
