I had Botox injected to the verticle lines between my eyes. It seems to have migrated to my forehead
Botox Injections Migrating
May 9, 2016
Botox injections are often injected both into the 11 lines as well as the forehead lines because these two areas complement each other well. If you had a good result in the 11 lines and are unhappy with the forehead results, I’d recommend a follow up with the provider who did the injections. Botox lasts for approx. 3-6 months so if you really don’t like it – it’s not permanent.
How can I get rid of pitted acne scares and acne?
FAST Treatment for Pitted Acne Scars
Mar 8, 2016
The best treatment for pitted acne scars is the Focal Acne Scar Treatment (F.A.S.T.) which uses the fractional CO2 laser on only specific areas of acne scarring on the face at an increased energy level as opposed to previous methods where the laser energy was used at moderate levels on the entire face. Pitted acne scars (scars that have a loss of tissue on the skin) respond incredibly well to the F.A.S.T. Laser Procedure. We consider the F.A.S.T. treatment to be the gold standard for the…
Acne scars on the sides of the face. Any suggestions?
Best Treatments for Acne Scars
Jan 21, 2016
Acne scarring can vary and so can the treatment for acne scarring. There is a type of acne scarring called PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or PIE (post-inflammatory erythema) which, depending on your skin type, can result in brown or red discoloration of the skin after the acne has resolved. In these cases topical prescription medications and chemical peels can be very effective in hastening the resolution of these marks. In other cases acne can leave permanent changes to the…
Xeomin does not work on me.. Shall I get Botox or Dysport?
Botox vs Dysport
Dec 18, 2015
Chemically, these neurotoxins should be the same in terms of how they interact with the muscles and take effect. Therefore, in theory they should work the same. Dysport, however, is often mixed with a greater amount of saline than Xeomin or Botox, which is one way the results can be affected. Generally speaking, if you keep all other variables the same (injector, timing, site etc), if a certain product seems to work I would continue with it. I often take the “if it ain’t broke, don’t…
What are the on label or off label for either fillers or toxins?
Off and On Label Uses for Botox and Fillers
Dec 3, 2015
Most dermal fillers are FDA approved for the nasolabial folds but are commonly done for the other areas you mentioned, as an off-label use. Botox is FDA indicated for the treatment of the lines between the brows and the smile lines, although we often inject it other places as well. You can look at the website for a specific injectable to find out what it’s on-label uses are.
How to get rid of deep under eye creases/wrinkles? 28-year-old female
Treating Under Eye Lines
Oct 21, 2015
Extra sleep, adequate hydration, and an eye cream with key ingredients are all a good start to improving the under-eye area. Be sure not to rub the region and apply eye cream in a soft patting motion. We like Neocutis Lumiere eye cream with caffeine to help improve puffiness and dark circles and hyaluronic acid to help keep the area plump with moisture. Growth factors help firm any fine lines and wrinkles. We see the best results when this eye cream is used twice a day. You can schedule a…
Is it possible to remove hair from your hairline with laser hair removal permanently? Will it look n
It is possible to remove hair from hairline
Jul 27, 2015
Of course the usual caveats apply – the hair must not be blonde or white, the patient must shave prior to treatment and it will require at least six treatments. The patient must be very certain about how they want the hairline to look since once it is gone, it won’t grow back. After each treatment the area may remain red for about an hour. It may look unusual during the treatments as thinner hair will be growing back in between the treatments. Of course the patient may continue to…
Is Toothpaste Safe To Use On Pimples?
Toothpaste is Not an Acne Treatment
Jul 17, 2015
Many people mistakenly believe the myth that putting toothpaste on a pimple overnight will treat their acne. Toothpaste will not treat acne, and in fact it can only cause further irritation. If you want to spot treat a pimple, use a proven acne-fighting ingredient, such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or sulfur. If you have an inflammatory pimple that is about to come to the surface and need it to disappear quickly, the best course of action is a cortisone injection, which is performed…
Should I be concerned about a mole growing back after removal 10 years ago, that was never sent off
Mole Regrowth
Jul 6, 2015
Having a benign (noncancerous) mole shave excised (a process of removing that which grows on or just below the skin’s surface) can be an effective method to remove a mole with minimal scarring. However, in some cases portions of the mole can be left behind leaving the possibility of regrowth. This regrowth does not necessarily signify anything dangerous. Having a trained practitioner in dermatology re-evaluate the mole in this case can provide you with the reassurance that this is…
Is it safe to get Botox or fillers done if trying to get pregnant or newly pregnant?
Botox: Better to Play it Safe During Pregnancy
Jul 6, 2015
Since there are no studies on Botox and fillers during pregnancy, we do not know for sure if it is safe and we cannot assume that it is. To be conservative, do not get any elective treatments like these during pregnancy. There are very few “safe” options during pregnancy and even over the counter anti-aging ingredients like retinol and anti-acne ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide should be avoided. It is not worth the risk.
I want to reduce wrinkles and puffiness around the eye and lower eyelid. Should I do Botox or filler
Fillers best for lower eyelid
May 12, 2015
We are able to treat the “sides of the eye” better known as crow’s feet with Botox or another botulism product. This will create a diminished, softer appearance. Secondly, using fillers for “under-eye bags” would be a better approach as I would not use a botulism product as a first line treatment there. Lastly, we must remember that our skin is very thin under our eyes, which can over all have more bruising.
Does Spironolactone have an initial breakout phase?
Initial Breakout Phase with Spironolactone can be Minimized
Apr 7, 2015
Spironolactone is a great oral treatment for hormonal acne. While it is true that there can be a breakout when its first initiated, there are things that we can do to try to minimize the initial breakout. One option is to simultaneously take oral antibiotics to try and reduce the bacteria on the face and help control the breakouts. Another option is to get cortisone injections initially while we are waiting for the Spironolactone to kick in. Spironolactone is a great option for hormonal acne…
Laser hair removal, should I give up?
Laser Hair Removal – Don’t Give Up!
Mar 24, 2015
Since Laser Hair Removal (LHR) is a technology that has been around for a long time, many effective laser devices have been developed, but they are not all equal. I would not give up on your LHR because this technology does work. I would first ask who was treating you and with which laser, as well as the settings they used. Since hair growth is cyclical, the timing of your appointments are important. I would recommend going to see a medical professional for a second opinion with those things…
Can I do filling for these scars?
Fillers for Acne Scars
Mar 11, 2015
Hyaluronic acid fillers are used off-label to treat rolling acne scars, but the results are temporary and the scars require reinjection. A different type of filler combining collagen and polymethacryate microspheres was recently approved for the treatment of acne scars and is considered permanent; however, it is indicated for more superficial rolling scars with a broader base, not the deeper ice pick scars. Subcision also tends to have a more favorable outcome for rolling scars, not ice…
Is it normal to have sharp pain after a mole biopsy?
Pain After Shave Biopsy on Mole
Mar 6, 2015
A shave biopsy, is a type of biopsy which involves removing a thin layer of “skin” or epidermis from the mole. Depending on when and what part of the body the biopsy was taken these symptoms may be expected part of the biopsy that will improve over time. Tylenol can used to improve symptoms if you have no allergy or contraindication. However, if there is discharge or drainage, swelling and worsening pain from the biopsy site I would highly recommend you follow back up with your…
