Lower eyelid surgery/Blepharoplasty Lower eyelid surgery, which removes excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid as well as correct droopiness of the lower eyelids; and bags under the eyes can be corrected by blepharoplasty. METHOD(S) Eyelid surgery usually takes from one to three hours, while the patient is under local or general anesthesia. Dr. Jones typically makes incisions in the creases of the upper lids and below the lashes of the lower lids. The incision lines for eyelid surgery are designed for scars to be well concealed within the eyelid region. Through these incisions, Dr. Jones will separate the skin from fatty tissue and muscle, remove excess fat and trim drooping skin and muscle.
