Coolsculpting on the knees have become more common, we now have several different size applicators, the petite, which is the newest applicator, and the mini. Depending on how your knees look and how much fat there is, one of the applicators could benefit you. I would also recommend VelaShape III or Ultherapy as well in combination with the Coolsculpting. Following the Coolsculpting treatment, about 25% of the fat cells in the areas treated begin to go through a programmed cell death. At that point, our body begins to break down those dead fat cells, which are then reabsorbed into the blood stream and broken down further by our lymphatic system. This process may take up to 3-4 months to complete.

Swelling in the areas treated following the Coolsculpting treatment is common. This side effect make last up to 3-4 weeks but should be gradually returning to normal with every passing day. If you have any bruising in those areas, the swelling may persist a bit longer. These are all within the normal range of known side effects for Coolsculpting.

If your are experiencing enlargement of of the treatment areas that are firm, this may be a result of an extremely rare side effect of Coolsculpting called Paradoxial Hyperplasia. This can be corrected surgically; however, you will need to return to the office you were treated at to have an official diagnosis in order to move forward with the correction process.
