I Was Diagnosed with Raynaud’s Phenomenon 20 Years Ago, No Symptoms in Decades, Can I do CoolSculptin
Cool sculpting and raynauds
Feb 4, 2012
Dear Julie, Having true raynauds disease is a concern in theory only, and likely not a true problem in the stetting of cool sculpting of the abdomen. This makes sence because raynauds is a problem with vasospasm of small vessels on the distal extremities, and does not affect the abdomen or trunk region which has adequate collateral circulation to prevent this. While cool sculpting was not studied in patients with raynauds, anecdotally we have successfully treated several patients without any…
Why Do Some Coolsculpting Patient Report Little Pain and Others Report Severe Pain?
Cool sculpting is highly tolerable
Feb 4, 2012
Dear Debbie, great question. Typically there is some mild discomfort, tenderness and swelling following cool sculpting procedure that is quite tolerable. This is pretty consistent but can vary in intensity from patient to patient and likely reflects normal inter patient variability in pain tolerance as well as how much fat was treated. This is tolerated very well in most patients with little effect on lifestyle or daily activities. There is a small number of patients (.04%) who experience…
Is Coolsculpting Safe for People with Prior History of Elevated Liver Profiles?
Coolsculpting Does Not Affect Serum Lipid Levels or Liver Function Tests
Jan 26, 2012
Dear Miscurious, Great question! Coolsculpting does not affect serum lipid levels or liver function tests.

A recent study of forty patients showed no change in lipid levels or liver tests when tested at day 1 and weeks 1,4,8 and 12 after having their love handles treated. This was also found to be true in a subset of patients that were tested at numerous other time-points following treatment. This is not surprising because the reduction of fat cells occurs at a very slow rate,…

Swelling After ePrime Procedure
ePrime creates volume and elasticity for youthful skin
Jan 25, 2012
Hi mosellv_md,

I am just seeing you post on ePrime- I have worked with this device for over three years now and have treated over thirty patients without any problems like those you have described here. Usually ePrime is a "minimal downtime" procedure, with mild swelling and pinkness that lasts a day or so. Some patients have a small bump at the site of needle insertion that lasts a week or so, but usually resolves within a month and is not dangerous. Patients can have…

I Did Coolsculpting Procedure 3 Weeks Ago, Not Seeing Results. Is This Normal?
Coolsculpting is gradual over 2-4 months!
Jan 24, 2012
SheelaA, hang in there- cool sculpting results are gradual over 2-4 months. the ultimate results depend on how the patient, number of treatments, handpeice size, and orientation are optimized to "sculpt" the body. Tenderness in the treatment area is common, but usually tolerable. The fat cells are signaled to die off at the time of treatment, but the body does not carry them instantly. Instead, this occurs gradually and safely over a few months time. This awareness is often…
Since CoolSculpting Freezes Fat to Kill It, Why Not Just Repeatedly Apply Ice Bags?
Coolsculpting is controlled cooling- its okay to eat popsicles!
Jan 24, 2012
The fat must be a specific temperature for a specific period of time to trigger fat cell death. While the initial popsicle cases stimulated the idea, cool sculpting was developed through extensive scientific research that identified the precise temperature and time period needed to stimulate fat cells to die and to do this without causing skin damage. The combination of isolating the fat in the suction chamber and maintaining controlled cooling allows for safe, smooth, and reproducible…
How Can I Maximize/improve my Coolsculpt Results?
Coolsculpting- the amazing art, magic, and motivation!
Jan 24, 2012
This is a great question, that many patients ask. The most helpful way of maximizing your cool sculpting treatment is to have a thorough consultation with careful evaluation of the fat "pouches" so that the appropriate size, number and orientation of the handpick is designed to specifically "sculpt" your body- cool sculpting is not a one fits all process, but instead more of an art form where experience and a good eye for body shaping can optimize results…
6 Weeks Post Sculptra and It as Dissapated
Multiple Treatments over time is Best
May 6, 2011
3 vials is not much for a larger face. usually 4-6 vials over multiple sessions will provide a complete look with lasting results. Usually see results at 6 weeks- likely too fast to dissipate. There may be other factors contributing the look- state of hydration etc. I would recommend further treatments to build on what you have.
Sculptra Injections for Undereye Hollows
Sculptra over the Boney Orbit
May 6, 2011
Sculptra is great for filling tear troughs when done properly. This is best done as a depot injecti over the bone, where muscle is avoided and the product is kept deep rather than under the skin. Experienced injectors can do this well when indicated. If a blepharoplasty is needed however, sculptra will not be the answer.
Hate Sculptra Results… Dermatologist Used 2CC in Each Cheek!
Sculptra sculpting is done in layers
May 6, 2011
I agree, that 2cc is a very small amount of sculptra, however depending on where it is this can change a look. Usually clinical results can be sen in 6 weeks. The good new is that sculptra does best when it is layered over multiple sessions and additional treatments would likely improve the results in this case by sculpting the face further to acheive th desired look.
Overfilled Sculptra: How Long Before I Can Begin Getting a Top-Up?
Sculptra is for Scupting
May 6, 2011
Dafney, the effects of sculptra usually last 2-3 years, however you can build upon previous treatments after about 6 weeks. You may be able to continue sculpting to attain the result you are looking for and change the look that you are unhappy with. It would be good to talk to your treating physician about this possibility.
Botox Side Effects: Are They Common?
Botox is Safe
May 6, 2011
Hi Shelly,

Yes Botox is very safe. Most of the side effects relating to double vision, lid lag etc are a result of injection technique and can be easily avoided when an experienced person is injecting botox, and is using a dilution that does not dissipate far from the injection site. In my practice the biggest side effect is that you will love it and want more! Usually it is done three times yearly to maintain the effects.

How Long Does It Take Radiesse to Soften?
Radiesse firmer than other hyaluranic acid fillers
Mar 5, 2011
Radiesse is a firmer filler than other hyaluranic acid fillers that are "soft" due to the absorption of water around the molecule. The firmness of Radiesse is advantageous by providing structural support to lax tissues. One can often feel fillers, while not visible and this is also normal; however as the product is naturally broken down by the body it will soften.

Brusing following injectionsis normal and varies from person, and usually resolved in 1-2 weeks.
