Does Coolsculpting Really Work For Double Chin?
Yes the chin is a very common area to be treated with Coolsculpting, as many find it hard to ‘work’ this area out 😉 The technique has been perfected by Zeltiqs outstanding technology with the Cool Mini applicator.
As for the face Coolsculpting is not done there. Below jaw line there are many options. Each patient is unique in how many treatments will be needed. Find a certified practice, ask to see their before and after pictures, and schedule a consult for your own treatment plan. (Jennifer Cova, DO, Dayton Physician)
CoolMini Removes Double Chins
CoolSculpting has a new applicator called the CoolMini that can eliminate double chins.
CoolSculpting freezes away up to 20% to 30% of fat at a time. Therefore, most patients may need two to three sessions before they get the results they seek.
CoolMini has been out now since the end of 2015
Zeltiq released their CoolMini Applicator towards the end of 2015 and the applicator has been doing phenomenally well. The American Society of Dermatology conducted a study about a year ago which showed incredible interest in dealing with the treatment of this area as things like snapchat usage have really put selfies on the forefront of consumers minds.
There are currently 2 major minimally invasive options for treatment of the submental area both kybella and coolsculpting. Interstingly Allergan the company that owns Kybella was previously considering the acquistion of the coolsculpting technology prior to purchasing Kybella.
CoolSculpting on Double Chin
Zeltiq has recently received FDA approval for the CoolMini applicator to treat the chin/neck fatty pad. We are very excited to be able to offer our patients a non-surgical answer for this common area of concern. (Steven Gabel, MD, FACS, Portland Hair Restoration Surgeon)
Coolsculpting for Chin and Neck
We are anticipating the release of a new applicator that will in fact treat the chin/neck fatty pad. We are very excited to be able to offer our patients a non-surgical answer for this common area of concern.
CoolSculpting for Double Chin?
Coolsculpting is launching a smaller applicator that will be FDA approved to treat under the chin with truly amazing results. It should be available in the next couple of months. The price per treatment can vary between $750-$1200. (Brian C. Reuben, MD, Salt Lake City Plastic Surgeon)
New CoolSculpting Applicator Available For Double Chin
There is now an applicator that can effectively treat the fat under the chin. Usually about 1-2 cycles are needed depending on the person and each cycle is about $750 per cycle.
It is best to have schedule a consultation in order to determine if you are a candidate for the treatment as this applicator may not fit appropriately for everyone. (Steven H. Williams, MD, San Francisco Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting for double chin?
CoolSculpting can ALMOST be used for a double chin! There is a new, smaller applicator coming out later this year (we’re told) that will fit a double chin. So stay tuned. (Carmen Kavali, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting for double chin
The limiting factor currently for areas that would be subject to effective treatment by coolsculpting is the device size. Currently, the vacuum chambers are not set up to treat “double chins”. I suspect over the next year, there will be newer chambers providing for other areas to be coolsculpted such as inner thighs. (Steven Hacker, MD, West Palm Beach Dermatologic Surgeon)
The suction cup sizes for the machine are too large to be used on the neck. This will change in time as new sizes are developed. Check back in a few months. (William Groff, DO, San Diego Dermatologist)
Unfortunately, as of yet anyway, there are no Cool-Sculpting vacuum chambers small enough to address the double chin/neck area. As time and technology progresses there should be a much greater variety in the size of the areas we can treat. (Grant Stevens, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting is great for treating the love handles, abdomen, and back. Unfortunately, it cannot be used to treat a double chin. (Jeffrey E. Schreiber, MD, FACS, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
Currently the machine does not have handpieces that would fit the facial and neck anatomy. Therefore the treatment protocol with Zeltiq is limited to various body areas in my practice we have successfully treated upper and lower abdomen, love handles, extra fat pads on the back, fat around breasts, gynecomastia (or increased breast tissue in males) arms, inner thighs, outer thighs. (Cameron Rokhsar, MD, FAAD, New York Dermatologic Surgeon)
Coolscupting works great for the approved areas of the body like the abdomen and love handles. It is not work on the face. If you are looking for skin tightening on the face you might be interested in Thermage. (Michele S. Green, MD, New York Dermatologist)
At the moment, CoolSculpting is not an option for excess fat under the chin. Smaller handpieces are being developed that could possibly be used for smaller areas including the area under the chin. be advised that CoolSculpting does not improve (and could worsen) skin laxity.
You may want to consult with a plastic surgeon who provides both liposuction and CoolSculpting to determine which procedure is best for you. (Michael Law, MD, Raleigh-Durham Plastic Surgeon)
At this time Coolsculpting does not have an applicator to treat the chin area. Coolsculpting is now FDA-cleared for abdomen, flanks, back, thighs and arms. Hopefully in the near future the company will develop a small hand piece appropriate to effectively treat the chin area.
In the meantime we offer patients cool lipo (laser liposuction) and regular liposuction as an alternative. (Gregory Turowski, MD, PhD, FACS, Chicago Plastic Surgeon)
Currently there is not an applicator for the treatment of the double chin area. Maybe sometime in the future. We will have to wait and see. (Robert Whitfield, MD, FACS, Austin Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting Cannot Manage Removing Neck Fat
Unfortunately, Coolsculpting is not effective in the management of neck fat. This is because the coolsculpting hand pieces are not small enough for use in the neck. At some point, new hand pieces may be available to address fat accumulation in the neck.
Until then, liposuction is probably the best therapeutic option. If you have concerns about localized fat collections in the neck area, consultation of a board certified plastic surgeon would be appropriate. This surgeon will be able to help you find an appropriate solution to your problem. (Richard J. Bruneteau, MD, Omaha Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting has not been approved for the face. However, we have been told by the company that chin area is being investigated. The company may be receiving FDA approval for the area soon so check back on the site in about six to nine months. (Kris M. Reddy, MD, FACS, West Palm Beach Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting is not yet approved for the chin/submental area. However, different applicators could come in the future so that the neck can be treated. Keep your eye out for news from Zeltiq. (Francisco Canales, MD, Santa Rosa Plastic Surgeon)
Unfortunately no such applicator yet exists to treat excess fat in the chin. Submental liposuction under local anesethesia is a great and extremely safe option. I would stay on the lookout to see if Zeltiq comes up with an applicator for this area!. (David P. Rapaport, MD, FACS, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)
