I have never heard of any situations where a CoolSculpting treatment has caused the type of symptoms you describe. I understand the obvious correlation you may discern given the timing of your problems occurring after treatment. I do not use CoolTech in my practice. I use CoolSculpting in combination with other fat removal modalities i.e. radiofrequency and ultrasound. From the little I know about CoolTech, it is a similar process in that it freezes the fat to kill a certain percentage of fat cells. I believe this technology involves a 1 hour process whereas the new CoolSculptig process is only 35 minutes. I hope this helps. Adrienne Stewart MD FAAD

The new CoolSculpting machines require 35 minutes. The fact that you got 30 minutes is within the margin of error and probably is not a situation where you got "shortchanged". Having said, that my office probably would have offered a discount on the second procedure but because of safety reasons certainly would not have repeated the procedure over the same area after the dislodging of the handpiece.. In my opinion, you do not need to be concerned at this point. This type of swelling occurs from time to time and come last from one to two weeks. Continue icing- off and on. If the asymmetry persists you could have the procedure reversed. If your injector was a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon I would return to them for analysis. It is a bit difficult to diagnose from your pictures what is going on. A board-certified dermatologist who performs cosmetic procedures would be my first stop. There are several laser options as well as medical grade topical's which could be explored with this type of expert. There may be a consultation fee involved with this but it will be worth it. Stay away from the free consultations offered by med spa's. Besides the lasers there are also chemical peels which may be helpful....

There are no contraindications for using the freezing modality offered by CoolSculpting as a means of noninvasive fat removal in your circumstance. I would urge you to go to a facility which offers several different approaches to this challenge. We use many combination therapies but usually CoolSculpting is included. After 15 years I certainly don't believe you have a collagen problem, as injectable collagen didn't last very long. It is not used very much any more. It is hard to tell from the picture whether you have much fat or might have laxity of your skin. We have had a few patients who have become nauseated and actually vomited as their cool sculpting procedure began. It has never persisted for these patients. I would definitely contact your doctor and let him know about this adverse reaction.
