If I use Rogaine and stop using it, will I lose all hair on the scalp it has touched?
Stopping Rogaine
May 19, 2020
It is important to remember that gains made while using medical therapy such as Minoxidil are dependent upon continued use. Cessation of therapy is typically associated with some loss.
With regards to your specific, the cessation of medical therapy is often accompanied by the loss of the gains which are attributed to this therapy. However, the losses are typically limited to the gains made during long term usage (4-6 months). This is due to the fact that it takes some time for the d...
Does it matter how much cc of fat is taken out of the body? The more the better or is it really based
Lipo limits
May 19, 2020
In an outpatient setting (i.e. not a hospital OR), the limit is 5 liters (4 l in some states like Florida). When liposuction is done in combination with a second procedure, the limit is 1 liter.
These limits do not apply in a hospital setting. This is due to the fact that patients will be admitted and monitored overnight (thus allowing for better control of subsequent fluid shifts).
This will amount to approximately 11 lbs. Ultimately, it is important to remember that lipo is a con...
Is it possible to get a breast lift without doing a lollipop or anchor scar?
Options for lift scarring
May 19, 2020
The scar burden of a breast lift varies directly with the degree of ptosis/sagging. The more significant the correction needed...the greater the scars.
Slight ptosis can be corrected by a "donut" or circumareolar mastopexy/lift. Moderate ptosis may be addressed via a "lollipop" lift or vertical mastopexy. The most significant degree of ptosis will necessitate an "anchor" or Wise pattern scar.
Based on your photos, you would likely need a Wise pattern/anchor lift. There is always a surgical...
Do I meet the requirements to get a breast reduction? 19 years old, 5'0", 36 DDD, 165 lbs
Reduction Candidate?
May 19, 2020
Candidates for breast reduction will typically have documented evidence of neck/back and shoulder pain as well as rashes and bra strap grooving attributable to the increased breast weight. They will often demonstrate that these symptoms have been resistant to more conservative measures like therapy, weight loss and pharmacologic intervention. This is needed for insurance coverage.
In addition to establishing a case for medical necessity, there are also requirements for resection weight (...

Is it true my upper abdomen cannot be liposuctioned at the same time as my tummy tuck?
Tummy tuck and liposuction
May 19, 2020
While judicious liposuction can be performed in conjunction with abdominoplasty, care must be taken not to devascularize the upper flap as the key blood flow for healing of the transverse incision resides in the upper abdomen.
If the procedures are to be staged (safer), typically a delay of 6 months is reasonable to allow for adequate healing.
As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Tummy tuck candidate
May 19, 2020
Concerns about the appearance of the abdomen are very common among patients consulting with a plastic surgeon. Just like every patient is different…so too is every abdomen. Different problems require different solutions. Your board certified plastic surgeon is uniquely trained to identify the problems as well as the appropriate solution.
The abdomen is commonly addressed via liposuction or abdominoplasty (“tummy – tuck”). Which procedure is best is dependent upon the source of the problem....
What size cc in saline do I need to achieve this look? I went with 450cc saline high profile
Sizing guidance
May 19, 2020
Patients often think in terms of cup size when considering augmentation. Unfortunately, devices are sized in terms of milliliters (cc) of volume. This can lead to some confusion when sizing. Additionally, it is important to remember that cup size itself is not standardized with variations from one manufacturer to another. Unfortunately, as many women can attest their cup size in an industry leader such as VS is not necessarily transferable to another brand.

Do I need a fleur de lis tummy tuck?
T abdominoplasty vs. traditional abdominoplasty
May 19, 2020
Most tummy tuck candidates have vertical excess (i.e. an abdominal roll). Some (often after massive weight loss), have transverse excess (i.e. upper abdominal midline excess).
In much the same way a horizontal incision/excision can address the traditional lower abdominal roll, a vertical incision (or inverted T/Fleur de Lis) can address the transverse excess. There is a greater scar burden and candidates must decide for themselves if this improvement is worth it.
Anecdotally, most p...
What is the risk with not wearing compression garment after liposuction due to being unwell (unrelate
Compression is crucial
May 19, 2020
Patients are encouraged to maintain compression for 6-8 weeks post op (4 weeks full time and 2-4 weeks part time). Garments should be snug but not necessarily unbearable. They will initially be tight and will loosen as swelling subsides necessitating either a second stage garment or alterations. That being said, regimens and garments will vary from practice to practice.
Ultimately, the goal is to mitigate swelling as you heal to ensure a smooth contour in treated areas. Many patients have ...
