Would IPL help my rosacea skin?
Would IPL help my rosacea skin?
Jun 14, 2017
Thank you for the question. First I would recommend seeing a dermatologist to evaluate your skin to make sure you have the right diagnosis. Flushing and redness may be caused by multiple things. Also address skin barrier issues that may cause your symptoms. But the answer to your question is that IPL works well for color (i.e. redness and browns). Just be careful not to have tanned skin before your procedure and you will probably need several...
Are There Any Risks to Fraxel?
Fraxel Laser Is Very Safe
Sep 19, 2013
Hi Donna. There are several different types of Fraxel Laser. The Fraxel DUAL (1550 nm/1927 nm), Fraxel Restore (1550 nm) and Fraxel Repair (Fractionated CO2 laser). The Fraxel Repair is considered an ablative laser and the Fraxel DUAL and Restore are nonablative lasers. The nonablative lasers have minimal risks as noted by the other reviewers. However, some patients have very sensitive skin and may have more swelling and redness than others. Since you may...
Which Laser Resurfacing is Best for Pore Size Reduction, Acne and Fine Line Reduction for Woman in Her
Fraxel Laser
Sep 14, 2013
Hi Martha. One of my favorite laser is the Fraxel DUAL. It has 2 wavelenghts (1927 nm and 1550 nm). The 1550nm will be the best to address your concerns (enlarged pores, minor acne scars, and fine lines). Sometimes I will combine this with a Thermage treatment (ThermaFrax) to get better results. Because the Fraxel 1550 nm is non-ablative with minimal down time, you will need multiple treatemnts. If you have a week of down time then I may suggest a single...
Preventative Aging in my 20s, Question in to Regards Vitamin C Booster and Other Aids?
Prevent Aging with topicals
Sep 14, 2013
Hi. I am very impressed that you are starting to address this concern at your age. That is my goal for my patients...to start them on a preventative program so they don't have to do a lot to look their best at an older age. I recommend a retinoid (tretinoin or tarazotene) at night, an antioxidant and a good sunscreen in the AM. The basis 3 as I call them. If you cannot tolerate a retinoid then start with a good retinol (the vehicle really matters in this case)...
Botox Induced Cheek Ptosis? Please Tell Me This Will Go Away?
Botox Injections Around the Eyes
Sep 14, 2013
Unfortunately this has happened to you but fortunately this will go away when the Botox wears off. Most likely the Botox was injected to low (pass the eye muscles) and into the upper cheek muscles. I tend to also inject lower units of Botox in the lower parts of the eye muscles to avoid this temporary complication. Botox can diffuse 1-2 cm away from the points on injection. Don't give up on Botox. It is still one of the best ways to get rid of smile lines.
Can Fraxel Be Used on a Scalp Laceration?
Lasers for Scars
Sep 14, 2013
I am so sorry for your accident. There are many ways to treat scars. My approach is to make sure that the skin is well healed without any crusting or dehiscent first. Some physicians will use a pulse dye laser (ie Vbeam laser) at the time of suture removal if the site is well healed. Other physicians like to wait a few months before using a laser on the scar. The pulse dye laser (Vbeam laser) works very well on red raised scars. Combining this with a...
