There is always swelling after surgery that can cause your nerves to not function properly. As the swelling goes down the nerves begin to “wake up” and you can have some different sensations until things return to normal. Normally plication of the abdominal muscles is from the xiphoid (just below the ribs) down to the top of the pubic bone (not including the pelvic floor). Unfortunately, this can occur with the type of lift that was performed. After one year the scarring will likely not change significantly. It is common for most surgeons to include liposuction of the anterior flanks (sides of the abdomen) as well as upper abdomen with a tummy tuck. It looks like you may be having problems with the perfusion (blood supply) to your skin, which could possibly lead to some of that skin not surviving (necrosis). You should see your plastic surgeon as soon as possible, so they may provide recommendations to address this issue.Best, Dr. Kludt

Thank you for  your question and photos. At this point the swelling should be gradually resolving. You should be seen by your plastic surgeon so they can examine you to determine what is going on.
