Scars from Freezing of Age Spots?
Treatment of age spots with liquid nitrogen takes time
Apr 28, 2016
These marks will certainly fade over time.  Keep your hands well moisturized and protected with sunscreen.  For age spots, seborrheic keratosis, liquid nitrogen is certainly the standard of care.  Unfortunately the recuperation takes time.
Botox if Ingested - How Much to Be Dangerous?
OK if botox got in your mouth
Dec 21, 2012
Many people confuse Botulinum Toxin (Botox) with Botulism. Botulism is caused by an infection with bacteria that produce Botulinum Toxin. These bacteria can be in spoiled food or improperly canned/jarred food. Getting this infection is like ingesting a Botox producing factory, and hence there can be gigantic amounts of the toxing getting into the blood stream. None of these bacteria is present in Botox, just he purified molecule of the toxin. You have nothing to...
I Have a Pore on my Nose That Will Not Stop Bleeding. Help?
See a dermatologist immediately
Oct 2, 2012
That looks like a basal cell cancer, not a pore and requires treatment. Fortunately basal cell cancers are treatable with surgery and do not generally spread to other organs. See a dermatologist immediately to biopsy the lesion and arrange definitive treatment before it enlarges.
Painful Sores on Penis That Hurt?
Painful sores
Jul 29, 2012
Looks like herpes simplex virus, get yourself to your primary care doctor or dermatologist right away for treatment.
Biopsy After Freezing Mole?
Freezing mole
Jul 29, 2012
More commonly, seborrheic keratoses, or "age spots" are frozen, while nevi (moles) are biopsied. Perhaps your physician froze a completely benign brown velvety seborrheic keratosis and not a mole. Many times, it is dificult for a non-physician, or non-dermatologist to tell the difference.

Please see my blog post on the Kraussderm website to read about seborrheic keratoses.

Open Wound on Forehead For Several Years, I'm Very Worried What's Causing This?
Wound on the forehead
Feb 9, 2012
Your wound must be biopsied by a dermatologist. The most likely cause is a basal cell cancer. This type of skin cancer can cause a local wound and can get larger and larger but does NOT generally travel within the body to the other organs. The only way to truly know what is causing your problem is to send a small piece of tissue to an appropriate laboratory. Putting it off will only make the problem worse. Please see a dermatologist as soon as possible.

Zeltiq Demarcation on Upper Abs Near Rib Cage
zeltiq line of demarcation
Dec 10, 2011
6 weeks is a bit early to tell your results. It generally takes 4-6 months to see the full results, so you may feel that the appearance improves greatly over time.

The smaller handpiece is great for the upper abdomen and when placed by a well trained physician is very unlikely to get near any breast tissue. Often we don't realize how much adipose there is in the upper abdomen until we stop focusing on the lower abdomen fat, so I often recommend to patients who treat their...

Differences in Coolsculpting Machines?
Coolsculpting machines
Dec 8, 2011
Coolsculpting by Zeltiq does use 3 different handpieces. 2 are smaller, with slightly different sizes which may fit certain patients and areas better, and 1 larger head for the abdomen which treats twice the area.

The larger abdomen head is not for everybody. It works best on a softer abdomen do to its narrow and long shape, and some patients do better with 2 cycles of the smaller heads (left and right abdomen) rather than the larger one to the entire abdomen.

I recommend...

Is There a Rebate Available for Juvederm?
Rebate for Juvederm XC plus Botox
Sep 22, 2011
Until November 30 there is a "duet" rebate of $100 when having both procedures done at the same visit. Only practices with larger volume purchases are receiving the rebate certificates to give to their patients.

You may want to visit the Allergan website, identify high level practitioners in your area and call around to see if they are offering the rebates.

Possible for Lip Filler to Enhance and Even Lips without Overfilling?
Filler for lips
Sep 22, 2011
Convey to the dermatologist or plastic surgeon your desire to have a natural result, and that you would prefer to have to come back for more filler rather than being over filled. I prefer Juvederm for a natural looking lip enhancement and would avoid permanent products.
Can Botox-Induced Pseudoherniation Be Resolved?
Botox and pseudoherniation of the lower lid fat pad
Sep 20, 2011
I have seen this complication twice, and it has always resolved in about a 4 month period. I would avoid Botox in the lower lid again. If you choose to have the crows feet treated in the future, ask the dermatologist or plastic surgeon to stay away from the lower lid to avoid this while still improving the lateral eye area.
Can't Fully Smile or Raise Cheeks after Jaw Reduction with Botox, Options?
Smile issues post masseter Botox
Sep 20, 2011
When Botox is injected to far forward (anteriorly) and high (superiorly) in the masseter muscle, it can weaken the muscles that lift the corners of the mouth that attach to the cheek bone. This can happen when the procedure is done for cosmetic purposes or for teeth clenching/grinding. Fortunately it sounds like you are symmetrical, but unfortunately it will improve only with time.
Why Did My Mole Go From Smooth to Raised Bloody and Scaly?
Bloody mole
Sep 13, 2011
Please see a dermatologist immediately to evaluate your mole. Although you may have traumatized a mole or age spot leading to a changed appearance, bleeding or change in texture can signify that a mole has turned cancerous. Melanoma is an extremely dangerous form of cancer and must be caught early before it spreads. Please emphasize when calling a doctor's office that this is an emergency visit. Ask your primary care doctor's office to help get you in quickly...
Is This Normal Swelling After Sculptra or Should I Be Worried?
Post Sculptra Swelling
Jul 23, 2011
I looks like you have swelling due to excessive bruising. I wonder if you avoided aspirin and ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) before your procedure.

I would recommend you keep your head elevated at night while you sleep. Minimize exercise and other activity that will dilate blood vessels (such as saunas, steam facials). It will take some time for the bruising to resolve. I would recommend that you go back to the office where you had your procedure Monday or Tuesday so...

Maxillofacial Surgeon Vs a Plastic Surgeon to Inject Restylane in Under Eye Hollow?
Eye Hollow Restylane
Jul 21, 2011
Training and technique is more important than specialty when it comes to picking a doctor to do Restylane under the eye. Dermatologists, Oculoplastic Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons and Maxillofacial/ENT Surgeons are all specialties that are generally well trained in the injection techniques. Ask the question to the physician of how many patients he or she treats in the same area, and choose an M.D., not nurse or technician to do the procedure. Read website information about the...
