Do you think my swelling will be down by June following the rest of my treatment next week?
Swelling post CoolSculpting
Mar 24, 2019
Hello!
The swelling from CoolSculpting is temporary and in our experience lasts for a few days up to a couple of weeks.

i had little acne and I have been using Isotretonoin for 2 months now i should stop the isotretonoin or
isotretinoin- duration of treatment matters
Mar 18, 2019
Hi,
Most patients notice clearance of acne within the first few months of treatment. Multiple studies show that when using isotretinoin for the treatment of acne, how much isotretinoin you take over the duration of your treatment is really important to prevent acne from coming back. Most patients need a 5-6 month course of treatment and the target/total amount of isotretinoin you usually take during that time is between 120-150mg/kg (kg your weight in kg). ...
Can you develop a kidney infection from CoolSculpting of your flanks?
CoolSculpting of flanks
Mar 9, 2019
No CoolSculpting does not cause a kidney infection. If you suspect a kidney infection, make sure to follow up with your regular physician.

Halo laser on neck and chest. Can this cause hyperpigmentation?
Halo on the neck and chest
Feb 19, 2019
Hello! Halo is wonderful for the face neck and chest. We often use it to treat pigmentation, such as melasma, freckles and sun damage. You should see a board certified dermatologist for your treatment if you are prone to or concerned about hyperpigmentation, as they are the experts in managing these conditions. You may be able to know if you are prone to hyperpigmentation. For example, we often ask our patients if you have a scratch or injury to...
I want to remove a mole on my nose, need help. What's the best way to do so?
mole removal on the nose
Jan 13, 2019
If it is the raised nature of the spot that bothers you, then a shave removal by an experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon would work nicely for this area. An excision (cutting out and putting stitches in) can sometimes leave a more noticeable scar on the nose.

Is it possible to get miraDry on the hands?
Treatments for sweaty palms
Jan 14, 2018
Great question. Currently the device is only approved to treat underarms. We hope eventually there will be applications for hands. Many of our patients do well with off-label use of glycopyrrolate or oxybutynin as well as botox injections in the palms (results last about 6 months).

Lips losing volume and I would like to learn about how to fix this.
Lip enhancement
Jan 14, 2018
An in person consultation is very beneficial to discuss options. Based on your photograph, you are a good candidate for filler and it is possible to perform subtle enhancement of the lips without looking overdone. We commonly see patients who want a natural, not obvious, enhancement of the lips. It is important to see an expert injector for best results.

What is the best treatment for nasolabial folds?
Nasolabial folds
Jan 14, 2018
Filler tends to be the best treatment for this area. Fillers, such as Restylane Refyne/Defyne and Juvederm Vollure, can be directly injected into the nasolabial folds to soften them. Sometimes the folds are due to loss of cheek volume, in which case we inject filler into the upper/lateral cheek area with fillers like Restylane Lyft or Voluma. It is best to schedule a consultation with an experienced injector such as a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to...
I got 2 Sculptra sessions - after first session I lost five pounds and second maybe 2lbs, will it still
Sculptra and Weight Loss
Jan 14, 2018
Losing the weight after your Sculptra treatment should not affect the results of Sculptra, the collagen will still develop. Weight loss can reduce the natural volume/fat in the face and Sculptra is often used to correct for that. You may find you need additional treatment with Sculptra depending on your goals. I takes about 6 weeks to see the full effects of Sculptra and that is is a good time to follow up with your provider to assess what...
Forehead Wrinkles with Xeomin and Restylane
Give it two weeks post botulinum toxin
Jan 14, 2018
It takes two weeks for any botulinum toxin (Xeomin, Dysport, Botox) to have full effect (diminished movement). Fillers sometimes it can take two weeks for things to settle into place. If this is your first time having the treatment, its best to schedule a follow up visit 2 weeks after your treatment with the provider who did your treatment to assess your response.

A one time "deep" Halo treatment did not deliver the promised results. Should I ask for a redo?
Post Halo expectation
Jan 7, 2018
Its probably too early to tell still, but it is a good idea to schedule a follow up with your physician a couple of months post treatment if you are not sure. At our office, we do before and after photos because that can be helpful in viewing the results or lack of results. We typically recommend 2-3 treatments for best results with this technology and often combine it with other procedures, such as neurotoxins.

How can I clear up these red acne marks (PIE) left over after a major breakout?
Post inflammatory erythema after acne
Jan 1, 2018
Post inflammatory erythema (redness) after acne is common. Topical treatment with retinol creams (there are OTC versions and prescription strength) can be helpful at improving the appearance of these marks. These creams must be used correctly- pea size amount at bedtime, sometimes with a light moisturizer first so that you do not get overly dry from the medicine. Another option is laser treatment with pulse dye laser (VBeam) or broad band light therapy...
Can I start Neurontin on my 2nd day after Coolsculpting on Abs in order to prevent nerve pain?
Neuropathic pain after CoolSculpting
Jan 1, 2018
Our practice was one of the first 50 accounts in the country to start performing CoolSculpting since it was FDA cleared back in 2010. To date, we have performed over 5,000 treatments. Neuropathic pain post CoolSculpting is very real and about 1% of our patients experience it with the new Advantage hand pieces. Neurontin/Gabapentin works very well for the pain and it is probably OK to start in advance of the pain if you are concerned, but I would check with your...
Should I keep taking Doxycycline if I don’t have acne anymore?
Probably OK to stop
Jan 1, 2018
The best thing is to follow up with the dermatologist who prescribed the medication. Typically we use antibiotics to treat moderate to severe acne for a few months at a time to get it under control, but we also make sure you are on topical treatment (medicated cleanser and/or prescription cream). That way, once we decide to discontinue the antibiotics, you have something you are still using to prevent breakouts.

I want to get CoolSculpting done on my stomach, hips, and arms. Can I do that?
CoolSculpting treatment areas
Dec 19, 2017
CoolSculpting can be used to treat all of these areas you mentioned. It is best to set up a consultation with a CoolSculpting provider to see if you are a candidate. You can treat all of these areas in one day. Many offices now have two CoolSculpting devices, which decreases your treatment time by treating two areas at the same time. If your provider has the newest treatment applicators, treatment applications are are 35...
