I usually recommend the patient see a gynecologist to discuss internal surgical tightening procedures. There are several devices that can be used to "rejuvenate" and these usually include CO2 laser and radiofrequency, technology. The results vary from patient to patient, but many experience significant improvement with tightening, restoring moisture, improving stress, incontinence, and increasing sensitivity. This is not a surgical correction for laxity, but can help.
Can a labiaplasty help minimize toilet paper sticking to the inner labia?

When there is less inner label tissue which tends to be more "moist" then there's usually less of an issue with toilet paper sticking because there's just not as much tissue there for it to stick to.

I do labiaplasty under local anesthesia all the time. The only time I do it under general anesthesia is if they are having a general anesthesia procedure (like a tummy tuck) at the same time. It is very well tolerated. As far as insurance, you would have to check with your insurance company to ask if it is covered. What I have found is that it is not commonly a covered procedure, but some policies do allow it.

Depending on which technique your surgeon uses, it is very easy to have the clitoral hood blend in with the labia minora. A conservative resection of tissue with a gentle arc down from the hood tends to achieve this very nicely. I take care of many patients with similar anatomy and it is possible to give a very natural result that blends beautifully.
Can I have a labiaplasty without a clitoral hood reduction?

A clitoral hood reduction does not need to be part of a labiaplasty. The resection of labia minora tissue may need to be modified somewhat so that the final result is a smooth transition from a clitoral hood that has some fullness. The goal would be to not make the clitoris and clitoral hood appear more prominent than necessary. This can be easily achieved with a very smooth transition from the hood to the labia minora which will now be significantly smaller.

The cost of labiaplasty will depend on several factors - the area where you live, the surgeon (experience, board certification, etc.), the facility (where you will have it done), and the anesthesia. Although we have a fully accredited OR, most of my labiaplasty procedures are done under local anesthesia only. Patients tolerate this very well and it helps to keep their costs down by eliminating the need for an anesthesia provider and full OR team.

There are several options for treating hyperhidrosis. As mentioned by other physicians, there are topical agents (like Drysol) that can be effective temporarily. I have had a number of patient's with skin reactions to these agents, but they can be very useful. A more long lasting effect can be created with Botox injections in the underarm. The Price for miraDry varies from office the office. Some offices charge a package pricing of around $3000 which includes a second treatment if needed. Other offices charge around $2000 for the first treatment and then $1000 for the second treatment if it is needed. We prefer the latter pricing structure because most patients do not require a second treatment and the cost is not front-loaded for them.

The burning you felt may have been the anesthesia wearing off and the nerves regaining sensation. If this happens, it usually is temporary (as it was in your case). In the weeks following miraDry there can be some persistent sweating. The true test is to wait until the swelling and inflammation has resolved and you are going about a normal day. At that point I try to get patients to quantify the amount of sweating compared to what they experienced before miraDry....

It is normal to have some discomfort after a tummy tuck, particularly if the rectus muscles were plicated. Sometimes as patients get back to a normal exercise routine they notice some increase or a change in the type of discomfort. Overall these types of discomfort (both incisional and muscular) tend to diminish over time. If pain is increasing steadily or there are any other worsening symptoms it is always best to have your plastic surgeon check you out.

I commonly do labiaplasty procedures in my practice. It is important that the surgeon be familiar with both techniques because the procedure should be tailored to the patient. That being said, I tend to do the trim technique more often because I find the healing to be easier on the patient and the final results more predictable. Most importantly, have the surgeon show you photos of patients they have treated so that you can form your own opinion about that technique in their hands.
