Has laser resurfacing, sciton profractional lasr 4 years ago, and I still have redness.
Redness after laser resurfacing
Apr 7, 2020
You likely have genetic flushing, or rosacea (some feel they are. one in the same). Sensitive skin is typical. Your genetic background does not preclude this possible diagnosis. Sometimes concomitant allergy or irritation from topical products such as moisturizers, sunscreens or even hair care products can exacerbate the condition. Occasionally persistent facial redness can be. a form of sun sensitivity. Please see an expert board certified medical dermatologist...
What would be the best treatment for my skin?
Asian skin and laser resurfacing
Apr 7, 2020
From your photograph, there appears to be acne related scars (small irregularities in the skin surface). Your redness is not well represented in the picture but if it is flushing. and not course. blood vessels, you may have genetic flushing. Other diagnoses such as allergic contact dermatitis and rosacea are also possibilities. Large pores are typically genetic and can be improved but not eliminated with present technology. You should first have a dermatologic...
What can be done to repair this skin texture?
Skin texture and Laser Resurfacing
Apr 7, 2020
Thank you. for your question. I gathered that there must of been some adverse effect. from a filler. or possibly "skin booster" injection, perhaps done diffusely over the cheeks. that your physician was attempting to. dissolve with hyaluronidase. Superficial injection. of low molecular weight fillers. can take several months to dissolve. Hyaluronidase can speed the process. Only in fairly high concentrations. can it possibly effect the collagen. Your...
What can I take for acne while breastfeeding?
Acne in pregnancy
Nov 18, 2018
Acne flare ups are not unusual during pregnancy and periods of breast feeding. Using topical azelaic acid and/or topical niacinamide is considered safe, even during pregnancy. Thete are several prescription products such as fineacea and physician dispensed products such as azaclear that contain concentrations proven to improve breakouts.
How can I not look so tired - especially in photos - for my wedding?
Looking tired before wedding
Sep 25, 2018
Your brows are low in the picture, with excess upper eyelid skin and an asymetrical brow ( left brow is higher). You are likely a candidate for surgical removal of the upper eyelid skin and possibly a forehead lift. If the wedding is eminent, a non surgical approach with Botox will typically elevate your brow 1-2 mm within 2 1/2 weeks and can make for a noticeable improvement. For patients adverse to surgery co2 laser resurfacing of the upper...

Laser Hair Removal Fail
Sep 18, 2018
It is unusual enough when an appropriate patient (skin color, hair diameter, hair color) is treated with modern laser technology to fail treatment that one must question:
1. The accuracy of the patient's perceptions. (did they complete at least 3-4 treatments to reach 50% reduction?)
2. The settings on the machine (was a paramedical or non core physician the one determining the settings?)
3. Was the hair dark and course enough?
4. Does the patient have an...
How many syringes do you usually get from four vials of Sculptra?
Sculptra Facial Injections
Sep 18, 2018
Always seek out a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for these cosmetic procedures. Sculptra is provided as a sterile powder and must be dissolved in sterile water. Typically for the face a minimum of 6-7 cc of diluent is used (this may include lidocaine) per vial. Years ago in the early 2000's when the product was introduced, a more concentrated 4cc dilution was recommended but this was subsequently discovered to be too concentrated and resulted...
Is this reaction normal after first Enlighten Pico laser treatment?
Pico laser facial burn
Sep 14, 2018
Although I don't currently have a pico laser, the same issues come up with the q switched lasers and fraxel restore. Firstly whenever there are fairly large areas of peeling skin, the laser needs to be turned down. Perhaps though the dryness began with your post laser peel? After laser best not to peel for at least two weeks for this reason.
It appears you’ve had a pustular, acneform response to the laser- not unusual. Some hypothesize its the sudden removal of p a...
I am not seeing much improvement on my lines around mouth & upper lip. Is there a better
Laser for lip lines
Sep 14, 2018
Lip lines are difficult to improve. Resurfx is a non ablative laser similar to Fraxel Restore. All laser resurfacing takes 2-3 months ( some feel up to 6 months) to see most of your results.( after your series)
If you agree to a significant wound then a single co2 laser might do better but takes more risks and has downtime.
If there is volume loss plan on having a filler every 6 months to revolumize, in addition to the laser series.
Although there is no reason to believe...
How many units are needed for a Botox lip pop or lip flip?
Botox for lip eversion
Sep 14, 2018
I remain unimpressed with Botox injections into the lip. I reserve them as an adjuvant to filler when lip volume is low and only for those with excessive animation. Its fairly easy to overshoot with the Botox units ( use too much) resulting in a deaminated lip, so I suggest the physician remain conservative in their approach. Always seek out a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
6 months post, what has gone wrong in the injection of juvederm Volite?
Juvederm volite reaction
Sep 14, 2018
Best to always seek the opinion of a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. As far as I’m aware Juvederm Volite is not yet available in the US. If you were injected in the US I would forst question if you really did receive Volite. Counterfeit products are plentiful and may not be what the importer (illegal) believes them to be.
If this was done outside the US then I wonder, given the distress it has caused, why the physician did not offer to attempt to dissolve the e...

Filler loss from ablative laser resurfacing
Sep 14, 2018
Filler for “eye hollows” may be placed derply if there is significant cheek volume loss and/or more superficially when the physician feels the defect can be improved with this technique. The level of the injection will determine the type of filler, based on the fillers stiffness ( or lack thereof) and viscosity. These choices are best left to the physician and his experiences with injecting the many available fillers. Always seek out treatment directly from a trained and board cer...
Is this burn after lumenis acne laser treatment permanent?
Ipl skin burn
Sep 14, 2018
IPL utilizes broad band light. The acne treatment filter allows more of the shorter wavelengths to pass into the skin, wavelengths that can improve acne but also are absorbed by pigment. Due to your darker skin type if Ipl is used the physician will have tovadjust energy settings appropriately and set your expectations, including the necessity for multiple treatments and adjunctive treatment with topicals and possible oral medications, at least initially. I also recommend against...
Is a longer laser hair removal session better than a short one?
Laser Hair Removal treatment time and results
Aug 18, 2018
There is no relationship to your results and the time to treat. The number of times the machine repeats a spot and the size of the spot are the limiting factors. Both the Gentlelase and Getlemax are effective hair removing lasers. What is vastly more important is to be evaluated by a physician, preferable a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to access your candidacy for the procedure (skin type, hair color, hair density, hair caliber). Properly set up both the...

Botox and edema of lower eyelids
Aug 18, 2018
Botox, when injected into the mid lower eyelid to reduce fine lines, can interfere with the muscular pump that removes (squeezes) out lymph fluid. For older patients, those with lax lower eyelids or anyone prone to eyelid edema (genetic, allergies, chronic sinus, etc), Botox in this area should be avoided. In general, those over 40, typically who have more lower eyelid laxity; a mid pupillary lower eyelid injection should be avoided and...
