Is It Safe to Get IPL Treatments when Pregnant?
IPL and pregancy
Nov 6, 2015
No, safety on pregnant women and babies have not been studied that well yet, but also hormonal changes may have the risk of more pigmentation or side effects. Avoid unnecessary cosmetic treatments during pregnancy, maybe you may need them later, together with bleaching creams, because of melasma.
How Much Does IPL Cost?
IPL price
Nov 6, 2015
Depends on your geographic location, the brand of IPL, and the person who does it. It is not the same that a Dermatolgist or Plastic Surgeon performs the treatment, compared to a non physican, aesthetician, PA or nurse. Make sure the person doing it is a Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon, if not, at least that the person doing it is under the supervision of the specialist for better and optimal results, and also for less risks of side effects.
Is IPL Effective for Reducing Enlarged Pores?
IPL for pore size reduction
Nov 6, 2015
In my experience (with Lumenis an BTL IPLs, and some other IPL brands as demos) no, even a lot of IPL manufacturers promise pore improvement. What improves more the pore size are retinoids and azelaic acid, together with fractional laser, which I offer in my practice.
Is PTF or IPL epilation safe for people with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and hypothyroidism
Safety of IPL on thyroiditis
Nov 6, 2015
Yes, it is safe. Just make sure to mention which medications are you currently taking to determine if they are not phototoxic
How can I treat a small breakout after my fraxel restore treatment?
Breakout after Fraxel
Jun 9, 2014
Your skin needs to be checked by your Dermatologist to establish a proper diagnosis. Most commonly could be and acne or folliculitis break, which is treated with mupirocin ointment or diluted white vinegar soaks for 2-3 days + facial clenasing every 12 hours. Also if the post laser cream is too oily or heavy, it could be another cause and needs to be changed to a lighter one. If you have a history of herpes simplex a.K.a cold sores, then a herpes should be ruled out and treated with...
Do people break out after Thermage treatment?
Acne after Thermage
Jun 9, 2014
The coupling gel used for Thermage may be an uncommon cause, but not impossible. Check with your dermatologist that acne reaction that you are associating to your Thermage treatment, because sometimes what for patients is an acne reacting, actually it may not. Rosacea prone skins can flare rosacea and there is a type of rosacea that looks like acne, which is not. Get your skin checked with the Dermatologist that performed your treatment
I'm on Accutane and haven't seen any improvements , is there anything I can do to help
No improvements on Accutane
Jun 9, 2014
This medication works on an accumulative dosage, an usually the results start becoming visible between 4-8 weeks after initiation. Sometimes when the acne is so inflammatory and severe, steroids or NSAIDs must be also given, or if a skin infection is present (most commonly folliculitis) and antibiotic may be also added (except tetracyclines). If these are not the cases, then the dose of isotretinoin should be increased (30-60 mg per day). Don't increase the dose until you see your...
