Answer Snippet
I had Juvederm lip fillers a week ago. The swelling has reduced but my lips are so uneven and lumpy.
If it is due to swelling, it can take up to two weeks or so for swelling to fully resolve after injections.
May 24, 2016
You could try and gently massage the area with two fingers -- one inside the lip or cheek and the other on the outside. If it is due to swelling, it can take up to two weeks or so for swelling to fully resolve after injections. Wait another week and if the lump still hasn’t resolved, you can have the filler dissolved. Always make sure to see a board-certified dermatologist for lip injections in order to ensure the best results.
Why carnt I have juviderm in my cheeks if I've previously had sculptra?
There is no reason why you cannot have Juvederm after having had Sculptra in the past.
May 24, 2016
There is no reason why you cannot have Juvederm after having had Sculptra in the past. Hyaluronic acid fillers are often used in conjunction with collagen building fillers like Sculptra to create a synergistic effect. Sculptra is more of a delayed gratification procedure whereas Juvederm gives an instant result. I would suggest visiting a different, board-certified dermatologist for your injections. Good luck.
I got flu like symptoms day after Juvederm (lip injection). Any suggestions?
It is extremely unlikely that your flu symptoms and lip injections are related.
May 24, 2016
It is extremely unlikely that your flu symptoms and lip injections are related. Most likely, you simply happened to develop an upper respiratory infection or flu-like illness around the same time as your injections. However, this type of reaction has been reported after fillers (and Botox). If you indeed did have this reaction to the product, there is a chance that it could happen again with future injections of the same product. I would recommend treat your illness with rest and plenty of...
Does lip filler (juvederm) always feel firm under lips even once it's healed? less then a full syrin
It is normal to feel some firmness under the skin in the area of filler.
May 24, 2016
It is normal to feel some firmness under the skin in the area of filler. Lumps after Juvederm lip injections may be caused by swelling and should resolve after one to two weeks. If you still have lumps after two weeks and they bother you, you can try and gently massage them with your fingers. If the lumps or bumps persist, I would recommend to see your provider as you may want to consider having the filler dissolved. Your lips should feel more normal after all the swelling has resolved.
Bad bruising after Juvederm injections. Any suggestions?
Bruising can occur in the lips whether a needle or a microcannula is used.
May 24, 2016
Bruising can occur in the lips whether a needle or a microcannula is used. The lips are a sensitive area and are unfortunately prone to bruising. There are some things you can do to try to reduce the risk of bruising, among them are avoiding blood thinning medications, non-steroidals, aspirin products, fish oils and and supplements for 10 days prior to your injections, but there is no guarantee that you will not bruise. In the meantime, you can take arnica to help fade your bruises quicker....
Is Kybella as effective if you're overweight?
It’s better to wait to have any fat reduction procedure done until you’re at or near your goal weight for the best results.
May 17, 2016
Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I would recommend waiting until you’ve lost the rest of the weight to see what your chin looks like and if you even still need Kybella. There’s nothing wrong with having Kybella done now, you’ll still get results, but in general it’s better to wait to have any fat reduction procedure done until you’re at or near your goal weight for the best results.
Microdermabrasion or Chemical Peel After Injectable Filler?
I would advise having the microdermabrasion or peel first, then filler afterwards.
May 17, 2016
Generally, if performed on the same day, I would advise having the microdermabrasion or peel first, then filler afterwards.. If this is not possible, you should wait about two - three weeks following your filler injections to allow for the swelling and/or bruising to resolve fully.
Is Microdermabrasion Safe While on Retin-A?
Yes, microdermabrasion and Retin-A are actually complementary skin care treatments.
May 17, 2016
Yes, microdermabrasion and Retin-A are actually complementary skin care treatments. Both work to provide exfoliation. Microdermabrasion is great for deep exfoliating and smoothing of the skin, and Retin-A will continue to help with cell turnover in the skin, keeping skin smooth and youthful following your microdermabrasion. However, you should stop use of the Retin-A 5-7 days before your treatment to avoid oversensitivity and/or irritation of the skin.
Can I have Botox injections if I do contact sports?
Contact sports are safe following Botox injections.
May 17, 2016
Contact sports are safe following Botox injections. I recommend to wait 90 minutes after Botox injections before resuming sports as it takes that long to bind to the muscle.. After that, there’s no risk of Botox moving somewhere unwanted.
if one stops chewing on gums , hard meat etc, can the muscle (masseter) atrophy on its own without t
A combination of eliminating gum chewing and using Botox can help relax the masseter muscle.
May 17, 2016
While stopping your gum chewing habit will help to prevent further enlargement of the masseter muscle, it is unlikely to cause significant atrophy. The masseter muscles are used every day for eating and talking, so significant atrophy is unlikely. A combination of eliminating gum chewing and using Botox can help relax the masseter muscle, thereby relieving pain and reducing hypertrophy of the muscle. It helps to create a slimmer, softer jawline, and eventually you may be able to retain the...
Is it okay to open up a vial of botox with a bottle opener to get the last drops out?
It’s routine for practitioners to do this, as Botox is costly and we don’t want to waste it.
May 10, 2016
Yes, it’s safe to open the Botox vial to get the last few drops out as long as it was done in a clean, sterile manner. It’s routine for practitioners to do this, as Botox is costly and we don’t want to waste it. Always see a board-certified dermatologist to ensure that everything is done in a professional and clean technique.
Are "collection pellets" normal?
Botox can raise small bumps at the injection site, but these bumps dissipate after ten minutes or so.
May 10, 2016
Botox should never be administered in the lips, so it is possible you are thinking about dermal fillers instead, which, if not properly injected, can leave bumps. Botox can raise small bumps at the injection site, but these bumps dissipate after ten minutes or so and are not a cause for concern. Talk to your provider about what to expect if you are nervous, and always make sure to see an experienced, board-certified dermatologist for any cosmetic injections.
I had restylane injections in my cheeks, and it caused under eyes bags. Can it be dissolved safely?
Dissolving it may affect other Restylane in the same area that had been previously injected as well.
May 10, 2016
My advice is to give it at least two weeks before you think about dissolving it, as it is possible that the bag is being caused by swelling. If after two weeks you are still unhappy with the result, you can certainly have it dissolved. Dissolving it may affect other Restylane in the same area that had been previously injected as well.
Would that be possible that Botox and the non surgical Rhinoplasty with Restylane could cause blindn
While it is possible, although extremely rare, for blindness to occur following Restylane injections.
May 10, 2016
While it is possible, although extremely rare, for blindness to occur following Restylane injections. Blindness following a filler injection would be an immediate event, and would not happen days or weeks later. It is not likely to occur from Botox injections. It is extremely important to always see an experienced, board-certified dermatologist for any filler injection in a high-risk area such as between the eyebrows or under the eyes.
Are dermal fillers overall good options for improving moderate to severe asymmetrical faces?
Dermal fillers can be a great option for restoring symmetry to an asymmetrical face.
May 10, 2016
Dermal fillers can be a great option for restoring symmetry to an asymmetrical face. A consultation would be needed to see if fillers would be able to achieve the amount of correction required, but in general fillers are good for this kind of facial concern. In addition, Sculptra, which stimulates your own body's production of collagen, is another great option for a facial asymmetry. Please see a board-certified dermatologist for the best results.
