Can I wear makeup on my face during my liposuction procedure on my abdomen and flanks?
Liposuction and make up
Jun 19, 2019
If you are having general anesthesia liposuction, generally, make up is not going to be advised.  With tumescent or local anesthesia, it is probably ok.   However, you aren't going to be going to lunch right after surgery anyway.  So, best to be all natural anyway.  Best of luck.
It's been a year since I had a (successful) knee replacement. Is it too soon to do lipo around the kne
liposuction of the knees after knee replacement
Jun 19, 2019
Liposuction of the knees can safely be performed after a knee replacement as long as all the swelling from the surgery has subsided.   Usually, a year would be sufficient in most cases as long as there has been no complications with the healing of the replacement.  Best of luck.
Is Ultherapy compatible with Botox and fillers?
Ultherapy in combination with fillers and botox
Jun 19, 2019
Ultherapy is a non-invasive skin tightening device that can lift and tighten skin.    Skin tightening devices can be a great adjunct to injectables and skin care for any anti-aging regimen.  Combination treatments that target different signs of aging tend to have a greater effect than when done alone.    There is no risk to doing the treatments and in fact there can be a great benefit.  Best of luck.
Vbeam safe on tattoos?
Vbeam and tattoos
Jun 19, 2019
Vbeam works well for redness from blood vessels.  However, the way the laser fires would not be good for a scar under a tattoo as the vbeam could pick up color in the tattoo and cause blistering or a burn.  If the scar is raised, possibly an injection of steroid could work.   Non-ablative lasers that don't attract color like the fraxel could be used as well.  But I would avoid using a pulsed dye laser over a tattoo.  Best of luck.

Laser liposuction for lower abdomen with laxity
Jun 19, 2019
Liposuction alone is usually not a solution for lower abdomen laxity after children.   Although removing the fat can improve the contour, the laxity is usually unaffected.   Combining a laser or radiofrequency treatment under the skin can improve the texture.   For patients that don't want to undergo tummy tucks this can be a good option.  Although not as tight after as a surgery, the improvement can be dramatic especially if combined with external tightening devices after the liposu...
Top high tech lasers for stretch marks and skin tightening after weight loss, in Boston?
White stretch marks
Jun 19, 2019
White stretch marks can be difficult to completely remove especially when they are very deep or over a large area.   Treatments involve laser resurfacing with co2, erbium, or non-ablative lasers like fraxel.  Other treatments such as microneedling and chemical peels can be effective as well.   Topical treatments that improve texture such as retinols and AHA can be slightly beneficial.  However, the best treatments are combination therapies with topicals as well as resurfacing and micron...
When one is affected with PAH post CoolSculpting, is it obvious?
Paroxysmal adipose hyperplasia and coolsculpting
Jun 19, 2019
PAH is a rare complication of coolsculpting that affects about 1 out of 500 patients.   It presents as increased in fat that is in the shape of the applicator.  Patients can have tenderness to the area and firmness that starts as soon as a few weeks after the treatment.   This does not usually present as lumps or bumps.  The only treatment for PAH currently is liposuction.   However, if the office you went to does not know what PAH is or does not do liposuction, it is probably best to ge...
Can Botox in the forehead and glabella effect the nose shape or cause heavy feeling in tip of nose?
Botox and droppy lids
Jun 19, 2019
Botox injected in the forehead can cause heaviness or droopiness of the lids in patients for a few reasons.  In some patients, this can be due to pre-existing laxity of the tissue.  However, more often than not, this is due to too high doses of neuromodulator or injections that are too low that cause the forehead to lose it's lifting ability.   However, forehead injections will not affect the nasal tip.   For patients with a small amount of nasal tip droop, sometimes botox can be used to lif...
When getting Voluma, how can you immediately tell the difference between a bad reaction (blindness) an
Vasovagal response with fillers
Jun 19, 2019
Vasovagal responses with fillers can be common in some patients.   Make sure to eat prior to injections.  Some patients find listening to music or telling a story can be helpful.   Blindness from fillers is thankfully a rare complication from fillers.  And though it can happen, the most common areas that this has happened is in the forehead and nose.   Even in those areas, it is extremely rare.  Visual changes from filler would only happen on 1 side and would not be associated with lighthea...
Is there a difference between how deep voluma vs. Radiesse is injected in the temples?
Voluma vs Radiesse
Jun 19, 2019
Voluma and Radiesse are both deep fillers used to provide volume.   Both can provide significant lift to the temples, cheeks and jawline.   As far as depth of injection, the products are injected in the same plane of tissue which is deep.  If these fillers are placed too superficially, a noticeable lump or bump may be present.  As far as which is better, it depends on the person.  Thicker skin individuals would generally do better with Radiesse while thinner skin may do better with Voluma.
1.5 years after getting silicone breast implants and 3 months after CoolSculpting. I developed a rash.
Rash not related to Coolsculpting
Feb 8, 2019
Coolsculpting and breast implants would not cause a systemic rash.   Rashes are difficult to tell from photos without more information.  However, looking at the picture the rash could be a yeast rash or eczema.  Seek out a Dermatologist for evaluation.  Best of luck.

Asymmetry after botox
Feb 8, 2019
Botox treatments can take up to 14 days to take full effect; however, if there is asymmetry after a week, it will likely continue.   Often, asymmetry of the brows can be fixed with a minor tweak of a small amount of botox.  If the asymmetry is socially obvious, return for treatment; if not you could wait a few more days.  Best of luck.

Botox side effects
Feb 8, 2019
Generally speaking, the amount of side effects from Botox treatments are very low.  From cosmetic doses, there is no risk of systemic symptoms.  The biggest side effects are local issues such as asymmetry, heaviness in the eyelids or eyebrow, dropping of the brows or lids.  I would highly doubt this has anything to do with the treatment; keep an eye on it.   It sounds like its more muscle related pushing on a nerve.   Best of luck.

Correcting lip asymmetry
Feb 8, 2019
Lip asymmetry is fairly common.  It can be volume related, related to the underlying bone or teeth or even muscle related.   Treatment will depend on the cause.  In your case, a small amount of filler to the smaller side will be able to balance out the volume.   Lip filler isn't really about the product as much as the injector.  Some fillers give more volume, some are more smoothing.   For correcting mild asymmetry almost any hyaluronic acid filler will do.

Sculptra for enhancement of the hips and buttocks
Feb 8, 2019
Sculptra can be a good option for those seeking non-invasive augmentation of the hips and buttocks.   The best candidates for this procedure are those who are very thin, who need small volume improvements or who have focal areas of concern.  Generally, most patients need 2-3 treatments of high volume sculptra to see results.   The main areas this is beneficial is the upper lateral buttock and hips to provide smoother contours.
