Botox causing lines
Oct 8, 2016
Hi bertieboogie,

I personally don’t feel that more procedures (more Botox, lasers, peels) is the answer to your concerns. At least, not yet. I think you need to be seen in person to take a good look at these lines. Are they temporary? Do they go away through out the day? Are you getting more over time? Also, do you have any similar photos before the Botox was done (selfie style, same lighting, etc.)? You should return to the person who did your cosmetic treatments for additional help…

Vertical dent in forehead. Any suggestions?
Vertical dent
Sep 28, 2016
Hi Chantal,

Please see your board certified dermatologist for help. There is a skin condition that can cause linear atrophy (a dent) of the central face. This can only be diagnosed in person after a proper physical exam. Best of luck!

Would Botox help my “excessive sweating” ?
Sweating under the armpits – try MiraDry
Sep 23, 2016
Hi,

I think the best treatment choice for you would be a treatment with the MiraDry laser. Most patients see a huge improvement in their sweating (and odor) after one laser session. Botox injections can work as well, but the results are only temporary. Good luck!

What should I do to treat what appears to be an acid burn?
Treating a chemical burn from at home remedies
Sep 11, 2016
Hi,I’m sorry you have suffered a burn from the natural remedies. Remember, vinegar is acetic acid and likely added to the damage already created from the earlier treatments. I would try to see a board-certified dermatologist as soon as possible. Dermatologists have completed four years of additional training after medical school in order to become specialists in treating the hair, skin, and nails. He or she will likely recommend you avoid any oils at this point (you can…
How to treat a new burn to prevent scarring?
Preventing scarring from a burn
Aug 27, 2016
Hi Jess,It’s probably best if you go see a board certified dermatologist for in-person guidance throughout the healing phase, but for now, I would avoid any oils (people can develop allergies to them, especially when using them on compromised or broken skin). Stick with thick coats of Vaseline or a ceramide-based moisturizer and most importantly keep the area completely protected from the sun. Depending on your skin type, at some point it may help you to start a topical lightening…
How to get rid of dark patches between breasts?
Dark patches between breasts
Aug 22, 2016
Hi tails95,

This looks like a medical condition that needs evaluation by a board-certified dermatologist (to confirm) and treatment with a prescription, rather than just a cosmetic issue that can be fixed with bleaching cream. I suspect it can be easily fixed, but you really need to be seen in person to make sure. Good luck!

Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia after Coolsculpting
Aug 18, 2016
Hi jg1113,We published a paper on this rare phenomenon. It can only be corrected with liposuction. It’s best to first speak with your treating doctor about this complication. Best of luck.

Hi! It is definitely not too late to have another cycle performed. Just remember – the machine will only get rid of the fat, not the loose skin. Good luck!
Skin fold under eye with smiling – will botox help or worsen?
Skin fold under eye after Botox
Aug 17, 2016
Hi Ir635,In my experience this fold can occur after Botox of the crows feet and/or under-eye area and will not improve with more units under the eye. I’ve had it happen to myself and do not like it. It happens due to weakening parts of the circular eye muscle. Give it time and it will improve. And then next time skip the injection directly under the eye and see if that helps. Good luck!
Could these round upper lip biopsy scars be reworked into thin vertical lines?
Shiny white round scars
Aug 16, 2016
Hi, Before you go for a surgical revision, why don’t you try a series of fractionated laser treatments or microneedling? I’d recommend consulting an expert in scar treatment (seek out a board certified dermatologist with cosmetic expertise) who can discuss all of the available options. Good luck!
Has anyone experienced frequent bowels movements after having CoolSculpting done?
Coolsculpting question
Jun 26, 2016
Hi Glenda,It is very unlikely that your increase in number of bowel movements is related to the Coolsculpting procedure. From what I understand, the fat does not leave through the lower GI tract (the poop shoot), but instead gets absorbed through the lymphatics. Sometimes a change in your diet (such as an increase in fiber) can increase the number of bowel movements. If it persists, or becomes worrisome, you should address it with your primary care doctor. Hope this helps!
Please someone help, I can’t handle the condition of my face anymore.
Bad acne scarring and depression
Jun 26, 2016
Hi DNGE,I’m terribly sorry to hear how bad you are feeling about your skin. When I look at those photos I see a beautiful woman with a beautiful smile having fun with friends. When you write statements like “I can’t take it,” it makes me worried that you are unsafe. If you are feeling unsafe, please get help immediately. It’s understandable that your appearance affects how you feel about yourself. I think your next best steps are to see two professionals – someone for guidance and c…

Microdermabrasion and blood
Jun 25, 2016
Hi,Bleeding is not an expected side effect of MICROdermabrasion. I would seek help from a board certified dermatologist as soon as possible, who can help you manage this complication and hopefully prevent scarring. Good luck!

Hi,If you were my patient I would want to see you immediately to help address these concerns. You should never feel bad about contacting your doctor, no matter how busy they seem. You may be having a reaction to the sutures on the inside, which may be trying to poke through. Or perhaps the wound is opening up.  It’s difficult to say for sure without seeing the area in person. I would get in touch with your physician who can help you with the next best steps. Take care!

Hot and red cheeks after Voluma injection
Jun 22, 2016
Hi Melissa,I would urge you to contact the doctor who performed your injections, or see a board certified dermatologist for evaluation. If you had numbing cream applied prior to the injections you may have had a reaction to that. It’s difficult to say for sure what is going on without seeing you in person. Take care,Dr. Elizabeth Geddes
