I am researching PicoSure for tattoo removal on my solid black shoulder/arm tattoo. Will it be effe
Picosure works well for black tattoos.
Nov 24, 2013
Given the size and intensity of the ink, it may take more than the average 5 Picosure treatments to clear this tattoo. However, it will still not take nearly as many treatments as would the traditional treatments. More ink takes more treatments, whichever laser is used. In any case, this tattoo ultimately should respond well. Good luck!
What if any laser treatment is appropriate for fair skinned mid to late 30s woman with moderate wri
Laser rejuvenation is appropriate in your 30's
Nov 24, 2013
Too much sun damage can be treated with laser at any age. Brown spots and prominent blood vessels will respond to IPL. Rough texture, fine lines, decreased luminosity will respond to fractionated non-ablative treatments. Talk to your dermatologist. If you don't have one, check the ASLMS (American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery) website for members in your area. The earlier the better but most importantly, start wearing at least a SPF 30 everyday to stop the damage. You will also...
How quickly do you see results after Vanquish?
Vanquish results can show quickly but not always
Nov 4, 2013
We have tried Vanquish on a number of folks of different sizes. Women with large tummies have gotten the quickest results. During the 4 week treatment, I have had two woman lose over 4 inches around their waists. These were big girls but these were big results too!Smaller people with less fat to lose, who are hoping for the average 2 inches shown in studies, have not shown significant difference during treatment. We hope they show results when we get them back for their 4 week follow up.
Is Vanquish effective on loose skin after massive weight loss?
Vanquish melts fat, skin tightening needs time, Exilis, and/or surgery
Nov 4, 2013
Vanquish heats up fat without disturbing the skin and some of the fat dies. Vanquish avoids the skin which is why it is noninvasive, no need to worry about scarring. However, it will also not tighten skin. If your fat is gone, you need to consider other ways to try to tighten the skin.Congratulations on your massive weight loss. I would suggest an evaluation by a plastic surgeon for skin removal. Over time the skin will remodel and tighten but probably not as much as you would like. ...
Why the pain?
Post Coolsculpting, pain is related to dying cells!
Nov 4, 2013
I had Coolsculpting done to my tummy before I bought it several years ago. I was an early purchaser because I had been following the studies and knew I wanted to offer it. No one mentioned the pain/sensation to me, so 6 days after I had it done, I was lying in bed and starting feeling these strange sensations in the area treated. Burning and zinging lasted a week. I knew it had to be related to the procedure and was glad to be able to tell my patients about it. You can't expect to have a...
Does the original amount of fat affect how high a percentage Cool Sculpting will take away?
Coolsculpting kills about 23% of the fat in area frozen
Nov 4, 2013
Studies on humans showed an average fat reduction of 23%, this did not change significantly between study subjects. The reason is that the caliper into which the fat is vacuumed and frozen is a fixed size. No matter how much fat there is, only a certain amount of fat can fit into the caliper and be frozen. Whatever gets frozen loses 23% of the fat cells. You want as much of your fat to get into that caliper!
Vanquish, CoolSculpting, Zerona. What's the Best?
Non-invasive Fat Reduction
Oct 27, 2013
We have done a trial with Zerona and we offer Coolsculpting and Vanquish as well as Smart Lipo in our office. Zerona took too much patient participation (!) for us to offer it. Its success is dependent on diet and lifestyle changes that are great but I felt our staff would really have to work with the patients to assure that they got the results possible and we just are not geared for that type of interaction. We have had Coolsculpting since its inception. I love the science behind it and...
Long-term Effects of Coolsculpting?
Coolsculpting effects over time
Oct 27, 2013
We have been doing Coolsculpting since it first became available. We had one relatively thin woman develop a subtle "shelf" above the area treated. Clearly you could see that Coolsculpting had reduced the fat on her central abdomen. We recently treated this area with Vanquish and that shelf has disappeared. Beyond that, we have seen no negative side effects. We definitely have seen mixed results and I believe it is because coolsculpting is so specific. In bigger folks, you need to...
Picosure for New Blue Cover Up Tattoo?
Blue Ink Responds Quickly to Picosure
Aug 11, 2013
Our experience is that Picosure is the bomb for blue ink. Don't know what is under that blue ink but the blue virtually disappears with one treatment. Tanned skin and exposing treated skin to sun are No Nos. Just keep the tattoo out of the sun while you are treating it.
Picosure Laser for Pih?
Pigmentation is so frustrating
Aug 11, 2013
PIH and melasma are the most difficult cosmetic skin conditions we deal with. I wish there was any laser that would make a permanent difference but so far, no luck. Aggressive sun protection, mild chemical peels, and regular use of effective topical products continue to be our best ways to minimize and control discoloration on the face. We look forward to better solutions in the future!
How much does Picosure Tattoo Removal Cost?
Email consult for Picosure Pricing
Aug 11, 2013
We are in Atlanta. If that is close enough for you to consider coming to us, we can give you an estimate if you send us an email with a picture, the dimensions, age, location, and previous treatments done. Black ink does well but if it is a really solid tattoo it takes a lot of time for each treatment,. We are shortening a solid black sleeve by just two inches at the wrist and each treatment takes over 3000 pulses, more than many which are larger but have less ink.
Can my Colour Cover Up Tattoo Be Removed?
Cover tattoos can be treated with Picosure
Aug 11, 2013
Picosure is the gold standard for tattoo removal and attacks the ink in two ways. A tattoo is just ink globlets that needs to be broken up into tiny pieces so that the body can carry them away. Like an oil spill in the ocean, if there is a lot of ink, it takes more time and treatments to get rid of the pigment. It can be done so don't despair. My advice is to get started as soon as possible so that the newer ink does not get too well established.
PicoSure Laser for Quicker Tattoo Removal?
Previously treated tattoos still take several picosure treatments
Aug 11, 2013
We are having excellent results from our Picosure but previously treated tattoos like yours take deeper settings than untreated tattoos and still take multiple treatments. It seems the scar tissue from previous treatments gets in the way. I was treating a tattoo that had both untreated and previously treated areas and the untreated areas blanched significantly while the previously treated areas had much less blanching. The treatments are more expensive but for...
Does Medicare Cover Cool Sculpting?
Insurance coverage of Coolsculpting
May 6, 2013
No insurance plan covers fat reducing procedures such as Coolsculpting or liposuction. Private insurance, but not Medicare as far as I know, may cover bariatric surgery which has been proven, under specific circumstances, to produce long term weight reduction and improved health..
How Can I Prevent Acne Scarring?
Prevention best way to avoid acne scarring
May 6, 2013
Since your outbreaks always leave a mark behind, it is incredibly important that you find a skin care regimen that prevents break outs. That is possible but may require prescription medications. Remember that it takes 8 weeks to get results and you have to continue the products to maintain the results You really need to see a dermatologist, review what you have done in past and figure out what combination of products and procedures will be effective and affordable...
