Doctor’s answers

Answer Snippet
Should I get less Dysport but more often for my forehead and crows feet since results only last 8 wee
Dysport longevity and satisfaction
Feb 3, 2020
It appears you’re getting a lower dose of Dysport then your facial muscles require, as you should expect about 3-4 months of longevity after treatment. I would suggest seeing another Board-Certified Dermatologist, explaining the dosage and time frame you’ve laid out here. They can provide a second opinion at your cosmetic consultation for the correct dosage and injection technique so you can enjoy longer, more dramatic results from Dysport!
After 2 treatment of miradry still smell notes – Do you think undergoing a third treatment will help
Axillary Hyperhidrosis
Feb 3, 2020
Depending on the patient, their expectations, and severity of hyperhidrosis they may have, we sometimes treat our patients with a third miraDry treatment. We also perform a Starch-Iodine Test at each miraDry appointment which allows us to visually assess a patient’s sweat production and their response to treatment. See if your provider could perform this test if you haven’t already, and if a third miraDry would benefit you. And remember, miraDry reduces sweat up to 82% and odor by 89%!
How long do I have to avoid sun exposure after Fraxel 1550?
Sun Exposure post Fraxel 1550
Jan 13, 2020
You should always wear SPF 30 or higher with zinc oxide to protect your skin. UVA & UVB rays break down collagen so you want to protect your investment. If planning a sunny vacation, pack a large brimmed hat, SPF 30, and sun protection clothing. Do outdoor activities before 10 am or after 4 pm when the sun’s rays are less direct.
What is the best laser for large pores on my nose?
Pore size treatments
Jan 13, 2020
Pores are best refined with AHA, tretinoin, microdermabrasions and microneedling. Pre size is largely genetic and can enlarge over time. Daily medications can help to keep them clean.
How can this happen to my hair in 4 months? Please help. Should I try Propecia or PRP?
Hair loss options
Jan 13, 2020
You should see a board-certified dermatology to evaluate your hormones and vitamin D levels, then depending on findings set up a treatment plan. Severe dieting and steroids can cause telogen effluvium. This is where the hair sheds dramatically after these changes. It will take at least 6 months to stabilize and start growing hair. PRP can help, but have your lab work done before to make sure there are not other issues that need to be addressed.
Is it appropriate to continue getting PRP once a month, continually?
PRP protocol
Jan 13, 2020
Current research supports once a month treatment for 3 months then maintenance treatments every 6 months. If your hair is shedding after one month, you may need to speak with your dermatologist and evaluate other possible issues such as iron deficiency, which may be aggravating your loss.
Difference between cross linked and non-cross linked hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid, cross-linked/non-cross linked
Jan 13, 2020
Non cross linked hyaluronic acid is a topical moisturizer. Cross linked HA is used as an injectable filler substance, such as Restylane, for areas of volume loss. These last for 6-18 months depending on the type, area treated and amount used.
23, wanna get fillers but first I’d like to know what doctors here suggest me and what kind of filler
Eye Treatments
Jan 13, 2020
Upper eyelid sagging can be treated non-surgically with Thermage FLX treatments. Upper eyelid fat pads must be surgically removed. Lower eyelid hollowing can be treated with HA fillers and typically last 6-12 months.
I had my 3rd miraDry treatment but only my right arm is still without odor and sweat, the left still
MiraDry
Jan 13, 2020
Have your board-certified dermatologist evaluate both under arms using a starch iodine test to see where the sweat and potential odor, is coming from. Sometimes patients have sweat or order beyond the treatment area.
Will CoolSculpting help me and how many treatments should I get?
Coolsculpting vs Liposuction
Jan 13, 2020
You are a great candidate for liposuction with good skin tone but with Coolsculpting you can non-surgically reduce fat by approximately 25% in each area. I would consider using the advantage plus, twice on your lower and upper abdomen, as well as the cool curve 2-4 times on your wait for best results.
I’m thinking of having my tear troughs filled and also lip filler
Filler Treatment for Tear Troughs and Lips
Aug 27, 2019
Seek an expert Board Certified Dermatologist injector to treat the malar cheek area beneath the tear troughs with Restylane Lyft or Voluma. This will also help raise the tear troughs and make the area more youthful. The lips can be gently plumped with Restylane Refyne which has nice elasticity for ares of high movement.
I’m a 49-year old, fair-skinned woman with severe anorexia nervosa, which has led to gaunt, sunken ch
Sculptra for Hollowness
Aug 27, 2019
With a loss of subcutaneous fat it is very difficult to attain a youthful look. One of the first biostimulators to be studied for severe facial fat loss is Sculptra. It is a biostimulator which generates your own collagen, but will not lead to puffiness. It may be possible that 8 or more treatments may be needed (monthly) to generate enough collagen for some improvement.
I want to avoid fillers for as long as possible for my tear troughs, but if it’s needed, when should
Tear Trough Treatments
Aug 27, 2019
Makeup can conceal the hollow by reflecting light away from the trough. Many patients benefit from a small amount of filler in the medial cheek (medial malar cheek) at the junction of the tear trough and the cheek as there is fat loss with age in that area. Hyaluronic acid filler in this area will last for many months. Make sure you see a Board Certified Dermatologist who is an expert in fillers when treating the face.
Is it normal to have some injection spots from fillers?
Treatment for Injection Spots from Fillers
Aug 27, 2019
See a Board Certified Dermatologist to see if they are a tiny amount of the hyaluronic acid product which has risen to just beneath the surface of the skin. The blue dots can be easily extracted using an #11 blade and cotton tipped applicators.
I’m a kickboxer will fillers move if I get hit in the face?
Consider a Biostimulator
Aug 27, 2019
It hasn’t been documented that hyaluronic acid fillers can move on impact, however you may want to consider a biostimulator, such as Sculptra instead. Sculptra helps to generate your own collagen after a series of 3-4 treatments. Be careful and wear head gear too!
