Does anyone know any great doctors that treat deep acne scars with ethnic skin? I don’t care the cos
Acne Scar Treatment for All Skin Types
Apr 4, 2018
Our practice offers a few different treatment options that
do a great job of addressing acne scarring on all skin types/tones.  For
patients with ethnic skin and deep acne scarring we most often use a
combination of INFINI, which is a micro needling device with radio frequency to
help smooth and resurface the skin, and Bellafill, which is a five year dermal
filler, to help lift and fill depressed acne scars. INFINI can be done on all
skin types during any time of the year with minimal ...
Juvederm Lumps in Lips?
Lumps from Juvederm
Feb 4, 2013
Luckily there is a product that can be injected into the lumps called hyaluronidase (Vitrase is the brand name). Typically the lumps will be improved within 24-48 hours.
Why is the Rating of Fraxel So Low? Just 57%.
Fraxel for Acne Scarring
Feb 4, 2013
Fraxel is still one of the gold standard lasers for acne scars. There are several reasons why people may have given a negative review. One is that it takes 4-6 treatments to see the best results. Many people have an unrealistic expectation of the results that can be seen with only a few treatments. Also, many people claim to have Fraxel when it is not the actual fraxel laser.
The other issue I have seen is that much lower energy levels are used than are needed to treat scarring in...
Ultherapy Paralysis On Lower Right Side of Lip; Normal?
Partial Paralysis after Ulthera
May 4, 2012
Because ulthera is sending energy underneath the skin it is common to be swollen and tender especially along the jawline. While having trouble with the nerves of the face is uncommon it has been reported and should resolve in 2-4 weeks. If you are concerned I recommed consulting with the physician who performed the procedure.
Ulthera or Facial Filler for 32 Y/o That Wants to Look 20?
Ulthera vs Fillers
May 4, 2012
In my experience ulthera is great for sagging necks, defining jawlines, and drooping of the eyelids and while it will soften the nasolabial folds and help the downturned mouth corners it will not erase them. I frequently recommend them together to get the best results, however if your main concern in the volume loss in cheeks and nasolabial folds I think filler is the way to go.
Can Ultherapy Be Done After 1 Session of Sculpter Asthetics?
Ultherapy is safe after 1 session of Sculptra
Apr 5, 2012
If you were planning on having more Sculptra sessions I would tell you to hold off on having Ultherapy. However, since you did not like the results from the Sculptra and do not plan on having any additional treatments there are no contraindications to having the Ultherapy done at this point. I have been using Ulthera in my office since November 2011 and have been impressed with the results.
What is the Best Way to Remove Tattoo Eyebrows?
Correcting eyebrow tattoo
Apr 4, 2012
I would consult with a physician who specializes in lasers. Laser removal will be the best way of treating, however it will take multiple sessions and may never be completely normal skin.
How Come After Botox on my Frown Lines, It Helped a Little, but Did Not Make It All Go Away?
Botox may not work for all wrinkles
Apr 4, 2012
There are two things that may have happened with your recent treatment. First, you may have been underdosed, meaning you may need more Botox to completely relax your muscles. Sometimes I have patients with very strong muscles that need a little bit higher doses. Second, if you have a wrinkle that is there at rest, meaning even if you don't squint or frown the wrinkle is present, botox may never completely make those wrinkles disappear. While getting the injections on a regular basis will...
Is Any Damage Done to the Skin During the Fat Freezing Process?
No damage to the skin with Coolsculpting
Oct 27, 2011
Coolsculpting does not damage the skin during treatment. Fat cells are more susceptible to cold and are destroyed at higher temperatures that skin cells are. This difference in freezing temperatures allows the fat cells to be destroyed without damaging the overlying skin. The skin is also protected by a gel pad during the treatment.
Will the Bump from the Injectable Filler I Had Done Yesterday in my Forehead Reduce?
Bump from injectable fillers
Oct 20, 2011
Many patients will feel lumpiness after injection of dermal fillers due to swelling and sometimes small hematomas under the skin. In a vast majority of cases this will resolve in 1-2 weeks. If there a visible lump, redness, or pain I would recommend contacting the doctor that did the procedure so it can be evaluated. If they used a hyaluronic acid filler like Juvederm or Restylane they can use Hyaluronidase to dissolve the lump.
Nail Fungus or Melanoma, How Can You Tell the Difference?
Melanoma vs. Fungus in the nail
Oct 19, 2011
With your history of melanoma in situ I would recommend you see a dermatologist to ensure that this is not a melanoma, however there are some clinical cues that may be helpful. Typically melanomas will show pigment not only within the nail, but also around the nail bed. This is called Hutchinson's sign. The greenish color you describe sounds like it could be a bacterial infection caused by Pseduomonas, but since melanoma doesn't always follow the textbooks it is still...
Should People with Allergies Use Dysport an Alternative to Botox?
Use of toxins in people with allergies
Oct 19, 2011
It depends on what your allergies are. People who have allergies to eggs should not use Botox and people who are allergic to milk should not use Dysport. There should be no difference otherwise.
Which Treatment is More Cost Effective: Dysport or Botox?
Dysport vs Botox
Oct 13, 2011
This is an interesting question and one I get all the time in my office. My answer it that it usually depends on the person. In my office and in most offices the products are similar in price. Many companines offer periodic rebates and the Botox Brilliant Distinctions program rewards you for using allergan products includind latisse and juvederm.

As for duration of action, I have many patients who think the dysport lasts longer, but I have an equal number who think the botox lasts...

Which Procedure Would Work Better for the "Spare Tire", Coolsculpting or Smartlipo?
Coolsculpting vs Smartlipo
Oct 7, 2011
There really isn't a right answer as both procedures will work for the problem you describe. The advantages to Coolsculpting are that it is non-invasive and does not require anesthesia, however the gratification is delayed because you won't see results for 2-3 months and I find many patients require 2 treatments to get the best results.
Can I Have Laser Treatment For Spider Veins On My Legs While Taking Accutane?
Wait for 6 months after accutane before having any laser work
Sep 14, 2011
While the risk is likely not substanstanial there are a handful of reports of slow healing or increased scarring when people have procedures like chemical peels, dermabrasion, and lasers while on accutane or shortly after completing the course. Because of those reports I recommend that my patients have nothing done while taking Accutane and for 6 months post treatment. Unfortunately Accutane stays in your system for 1 month following treatment so it would still be lingering if you just...
