CoolSculpting Or Kybella For The Double Chin

Am I more suited for Kybella or CoolSculpting?

Loose skin, under chin fat, jowls, marionette lines- these are all issues of aging due to degeneration of collagen and fat pads in our face. Most people will say their face is falling. Coolsculpting and Kybella are two ways to fight the excess fat under the chin.

Each has it own pro’s and con’s-but both have been proven to work. Redefining your jaw line may take a bit more then just decreasing the fat pocket under the chin (known as submental fat). Radiofrequency ultrasound can lift and firm. Fillers can add volume and accentuate the jaw line, advanced Botox techniques can be helpful as well.

While it may seem overwhelming, A trusted experienced aesthetic practitioner should be able to guide you! (Jeffrey Goldstein, DO, New York Physician)

Coolsculpting or Kybella for double chin?

Both treatments work equally well for submental fat reduction. You need a consultation with an experienced physician in order to decide what is more appropriate for you. CoolSculpting mini needs to have enough fat in order for the applicator to work.

Kybella can be injected in small areas and can target the fat pockets more precisely. Kybella is usually more pricey than cool mini. (Aurora DeJuliis, MD, Montclair Physician)

Kybella is better suited for people with mild-moderate fat under their skin. You may not have enough fat for the applicator of the Coolsculpting equipment to grip on to.

That said, without viewing you in person and actually feeling the fat and discussing the procedure directly with you.

Either way, it is a win-win as both of these modalities give excellent results and are essentially permanent after the full correction is achieved (as long as significant weight gain is avoided). (Amy Forman Taub, MD, Chicago Dermatologic Surgeon)

Kybella Vs. CoolMini

The best recommendation would be after examining the area of concern to see if it can be pinched or not.

Coolsculpting has no down time, less or no bruising and pain less compared to Kybella. (Ramandeep Sidhu, MD, Issaquah Vascular Surgeon)

Chin fat- which treatment is best?

I am an Australian Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon(referred to as ‘board certified’ in the US), and as such, offer a range of options for chin fat, including liposuction and both CoolSculpting and fat injections (product names differ slightly here although the actual product is the same).

You need someone qualified in both these procedures to assess appropriately. I suspect, you may not be a good candidate for CoolSculpting, as the applicator may not have enough fat to ‘grab'(that’s one of the limitations of CoolSculpting, which is highly effective but your situation needs to be appropriate for it).

The Spot Under Your Chin

So, fat injection my be more appropriate. Do you research by consulting with a real person. Get a professional opinion. Preferably with a Plastic Surgery practice, in my opinion, as we deal every day with body cosmetic issues and are highly trained and skilled to do so. (Mark Edinburg, MBBCH, FRACS, Sydney Plastic Surgeon)

Unfortunately, this is something that would require you to have an in-person consultation. It is very important that the specialist be able to both see and feel the area that you want treated.

Kybella would be better suited to your needs, as it is used to treat smaller pockets of fat. (Edward Stokes, MD, West Hollywood Physician)

CoolSculpting or Kybella?

You would need an in-personconsultation and evaluation to determine which treatment would be most appropriate to improve your double chin and define your jawline. (Michael A. Zadeh, MD, FACS, Sherman Oaks General Surgeon)

Under chin fat treatment

It is hard to assess without physically examining under chin fat distribution. My recommendation would be to see a physician and have that discussion with them.

Coolsculpting is a great tool and it can help as well, but I like it for de-bulking. (Violetta Mailyan, DO, MS, Glendale Physician)
