Coolsculpting For C Section Pouch
We recommend waiting at least 6 months after surgery before starting any CoolSculpting treatments.
There is a relative contraindication for abdominal surgery and scars with Coolsculpting.
Meaning that it needs to be evaluated and discussed to determine if your surgery history and location of scars are safe before proceeding with treatments.
We have successfully treated women who had previous c-section without any complications.
I recommend consulting with a CoolSculpting certified practice for a proper evaluation and see if you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting. (Alain Michon, MD, Ottawa Physician)
CoolScupting Post C-Section
We usually recommend that patients wait 6 months and get cleared by their physician prior to treating with CoolSculpting post C-Section.
CoolSculpting does wonders to bring the post pregnancy body back into shape. The results are smooth and natural looking, and best of all permanent. (Edward Stokes, MD, West Hollywood Physician)
Abdomen is our #1 area and many clients have a history of a C-section. It can be an excellent way to decrease subcutaneous fat on the abdomen but when you have your consultation the practitioner will assess you for safety and if you’d be a good candidate for this type of treatment.
C Section history does not mean you can’t have it though. (Robert Heck, MD, FACS, Columbus Plastic Surgeon)
the way we can assess is a clinical exam. But a general rule is that if you have pinch-able fat you should probably see benefit from coolsculpting.
See a coolsculpting doctor for consultation in many instances consult for coolsculpting is free. (Parham Gharagozlou, MD, FACP, Walnut Creek Physician)
It is recommended not to treat over scars but it’s always best to set up a consultation and have your stomach assessed. They might be able to avoid the scar and still treat the fat! (Narin (Joe) Apisarnthanarax, MD, Houston Dermatologist)
Coolsculpting post pregnancy
It is recommended to wait about 3- 6 months post pregnancy to have coolscultping . Your uterus will continue to shrink in size and hormonal levels will have changes over this time period. Also you should not be breastfeeding feeding if you decide to have the treatment . (Drew Varano, MD, Washington DC Physician)
I have extensive experience with CoolSculpting so I would recommend visiting a provider to be assessed for the CoolSculpting treatment, as the technology is constantly improving and you may be able to treat around the scar.
A provider would be able to look at the area and determine your eligibility. (Justin Harper, MD, Columbus Physician)
CoolSculpting after C-section
You should have a consultation with a qualified CoolSculpting provider, ideally with someone who practices under the guidance of a plastic surgeon, so you can have an evaluation by a physician. In general you don’t want to use CoolSculpting over a scar, but if the area of treatment is above, it may be able to be treated. (Olga Bachilo, MD, Houston Physician)
CoolSculpting over scars
The answer is yes and no, it depends on the appearance of the scar and the redundancy of the skin. You might be able to have SculpSure performed if CoolSculpting does not work. SculpSure uses a laser to “zap” the fat away.
Consult with a physician to see if you would qualify for either of these non invasive procedures. (David Finkle, MD, Omaha Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting Safety Over Scars
CoolSculpting is safe over fully mature, well healed scars. It is very common to treat the small fat bulge that occurs above a c-section incision site.
As long as the elasticity of the skin is intact, I have seen excellent results with patients with similar concerns as you. (Scott Gerrish, DO, Vienna Physician)
Is CoolSculpting safe for someone who has had a c-section?
Yes! As long as you do not have any active lesions or infections it is safe. My wife had Cool sculpting at 6 months after her C section. Great results. She did experience some pain around the abdomen which is not uncommon C section or not for about a week.
Whether it is more common to have this side effect after a C section is unknown. there are some advanced techniques that are used to avoid the scar when possible. (Jeffrey Goldstein, DO, New York Physician)
It may be possible to have Coolsculpting even though you’ve had a c-section. It will depend on the placement of the scar and skin laxity.
I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction, which can be performed at the same time as a tummy tuck, depending on skin laxity.
I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. (Jason Emer, MD, Los Angeles Dermatologic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting after Baby and C-Section
After c-sections, scar tissue forms, pulling some of the areas of skin in tight while allowing others to proceed with fat loss & gain per usual.
This makes returning to your pre-baby body almost impossible! Coolsculpting is very helpful in reducing those tricky fat pockets that aren’t receptive to diet and exercise….just like the ones you’re referring to above and below your c-section scar.
I think Zeltiq would be a fantastic idea for you. However, please keep in mind that though the skin is remarkably efficient at tightening itself after weight loss, if you have significant excess skin after multiple pregnancies, you may also benefit from a tummy tuck and or liposuction for the especially stubborn saggy skin or adipose pockets. (Cameron Rokhsar, MD, FAAD, New York Dermatologic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting after child birth
You would most likely want to wait at least 6 months to a year after any abdominal surgery before doing CoolSculpting on the abdomen. Also, we do not recommend doing it while breastfeeding, so that also may factor into the timing.
Check with your CoolSculpting provider as well as your Ob/gyn before doing any CoolSculpting treatments to the abdomen. (Jeffrey M. Hartog, DMD, MD, Orlando Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting after C-Section
In our practice we recommend waiting 6 months post partum before coolsculpting treatment. Although your incision will be healed, the scar is still maturing up to 1 year and may be sensitive to the suction associated with treatment.
It is also important to rule out any hernias prior to treatment. As always, please see an experienced provider for an individualized assessment and be aware that coolsculpting does not treat rectus diastasis, skin laxity or cellulite. (Steven H. Williams, MD, San Francisco Plastic Surgeon)
