Coolsculpting Age Requirement
The use of CoolSculpting (CS) has no age limit. There are many considerations for its use: the skin/fat bulge must fit the CS applicator, no history of ischemic skin injury such as Raynaud’s Syndrome, not pregnant, no active skin infection or other skin concerns, no hernia in the site of CS, additional lifestyle modification should be considered, and many others issues to be discussed with your CS Specialist.
Please consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to see if CS or other options are best for you. (Dean P. Kane, MD, FACS, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
There is no age limitation for CoolSculpting. Potential candidates for treatment need to be examined to determine if the procedure would be appropriate or not. (Michael I. Echavez, MD, San Francisco Facial Plastic Surgeon)
We have in our practice performed Coolsculpting for patients between 21 and 70. If you are less than 18 and considering I would recommend to bring your parents to the consult and to review the informed consent. (Himansu Shah, MD, Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon)
This will obviously vary from place to place and with each individual case. If anyone under 18 is being treated then they will need parental consent. At my practice we have treated patients from 18-75 years of age. (Michael A. Zadeh, MD, FACS, Sherman Oaks General Surgeon)
Is there any age limit for the CoolSculpting procedure?
Age is not really a factor when considering CoolSculpting, the medical professional would assess fat content and skin integrity. It may be beneficial to schedule a consultation for CoolSculpting to find out if you are a candidate. (Martin Jugenburg, MD, Toronto Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting age limits
The freezing process to achieve reduced fat in the tissues deep to the skin is a non invasive procedure that induces a programed cellular death of the fat cells in the area treated. While no age limit is set for this technology, before any procedure a consultation is performed.
If the patient is under the age of 18, parental consent would be necessary. Younger patients will likely see more dramatic results with skin tightening once the fat is reabsorbed. Thsi process can take upwards of 3 months.
I recommend a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who is a member of ASAPS. Check with your Smart Beauty Guide for an ASAPS member near you. (R. Brannon Claytor, MD, FACS, Bryn Mawr Plastic Surgeon)
CS Age limit
In my practice, there is no age limit for Coolsculpting. Sometimes patients will have loose skin and I may recommend a tummy tuck instead of CS, for example.
Each patient has their own needs and we are very results oriented. (Sheila S. Nazarian, MD, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
There are many variables that go into determining who would be a good candidate for cool sculpting. I would recommend she seek out a qualified practitioner in your area. In many instances board certified plastic surgeons are utilizing this technology and will let you know upon a detailed physical examination weather your skin envelope would benefit from such treatment.
In addition that you may also consider excisional treatment options if the skin appeared to be loose following weight loss and/or your genetics. (John J. O`Brien, Jr., MD, Saint Petersburg Plastic Surgeon)
Age is not really a primary factor in considering the appropriateness of this procedure. Amazingly, I have treated patients in their 90s. The nature of your fat and the skin tightness or laxity would have to be analyzed; I would urge you to go to a complete body center which includes a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
By a complete body center I mean a clinic which offers several l of the noninvasive modalities for fat removal. In addition to CoolSculpting, our office offers Vanquish and Venous forms of RF, along with Ultra Shape a form of ultrasound. (Adrienne E. Stewart, MD, Denver Dermatologic Surgeon)
Age isn’t a determining factor when deciding whether you are a candidate for CoolSculpting or not (although most physicians will recommend that individuals under the age of 18 not be treated).
The best way to find out if you are a candidate is to reach out to a physician directed practice and schedule a free consultation.
At Imagine Body Sculpting our consultations are complimentary with no obligation so that you and a specialist can determine if this is the best treatment to help you reach your goals. (Vincent Marino, MD, Scottsdale Physician)
Age alone is not a determinant for suitability for CoolSculpting treatment. Whether or not you are a candidate depends on several factors including skin laxity and weight. Please consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon’s office to determine the best treatment for you.
An exam is needed to make a recommendation. (Janet Turkle, MD, Indianapolis Plastic Surgeon)
Advanced age is not a contraindication for non-surgical fat reduction with CoolSculpting. In fact, depending on your medical health, it may certainly be safer than liposuction. A bigger determining factor is the quality of your skin, which often becomes more lax with age, but this occurs variably in individuals.
Your next step should be to consult with a surgeon who offers both surgical and non-surgical fat reduction to receive the most objective recommendation tailored for your needs and interests. (Oscar A. Aguirre, MD, FPMRS, FACOG, Denver Urogynecologist)
Age, by itself, does not discount someone from being a good candidate for CoolSculpting. Ultimately, an examination of you would be needed to determine if CoolSculpting might be of benefit to you to reduce fat in your abdomen (belly).
If there is fat just below the skin, this can be improved with the treatment. If the fat is deeper and below the muscle, this cannot be improved with CoolSculpting. (Michael I. Echavez, MD, San Francisco Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Both coolsculpting and sculpSure can remove in one treatment at best about 24% of the fat over a 3-4 month period and since both have no innate ability to shrink the skin, you could be a better candidate for laser assisted liposuction which with the palomar laser lifesculpt system has a second wavelength ( 975 nm ) of laser light which shrinks the skin and shortens the fibrous bands that join the deep dermis to the fascia ( fibrous sheet covering the muscles ), sometimes significant skin tightening can be achieved (sometimes remarkable sometimes less remarkable ) or after coolsculpting sculpSure, or standard ( non laser ) assisted liposuction numerous external devices can be used to shrink the skin ( radiofrequency, laser, ultrasonic ).. (William H. Jervis, MD, FACS, Walnut Creek Plastic Surgeon)
