Coolsculpting Affecting Other Areas

CoolSculpting treatment reduces unwanted fat in the treated area only- which is determined by the placement of the applicators used during treatment.

An example may be the waistline or love handles… if someone wants to reduce the unwanted fat in that area, their whole appearance may appear different because we’ve contoured that specific area of the body… clothes may fit better, and the bulge may disappear – but the reduction of fat is only in the treated area.

CoolSculpting is not a treatment that will cause you to lose weight- it is not a weight loss procedure.

In the event that you are wanting to treat your abdomen and also feel that you have unwanted fat in your chest, you may want to consider finding a practice that does treat your chest with CoolSculpting.
I recommend a practice that is reputable and very experienced with treating the area. It is very common to put a treatment plan together for patients that involve multiple areas – especially when addressing the torso. (Jennifer Harrington, MD, Minneapolis Plastic Surgeon)

Coolsculpting only affects treated area

There will be no affect on the breast area if the abdomen was treated. We have treated male breast tissue, gynecomastia for years. Our patients are generally happy and understand it’s not a surgical result.

It takes at least 2 treatments. Results are long lasting. (Steven F. Weiner, MD, Panama City Facial Plastic Surgeon)

CoolSculpting works by placing applicators over specific treatment areas. The applicators cool the fat that they are placed over, and that fat is crystallized in response to the cold. The body then naturally removes that crystallized fat.

CoolSculpting Works Because Fat Cells Are More Sensitive To Cool Temperatures Than Your Other Cells

So, CoolSculpting has only local effects: it removes fat where the applicators are placed, nowhere else. We have had excellent results with CoolSculpting for the chest as well as the abdomen, so you should seek out a provider that offers the service for both of those areas. (David P. Rapaport, MD, FACS, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)

CoolSculpting for abdomen, will other areas be affected?

This is a very common misperception regarding CoolSculpting as well as most all of the permanent fat loss procedures, including liposuction.

The only fat that will be affected by CoolSculpting is where the treatment applicators are placed and frozen.

So if you desired to treat the abdomen and wanted to lose weight in you chest then that would come from diet and exercise. We have had good success treating “man breasts” with CoolSculpting however understand that like the other areas of the body frequently multiple treatment cycles will need to be done to achieve your desired results.
Also very important to know you will NOT lose weight with CoolSculpting no matter what part of the body is treated. (Paul Pietro, MD, Greenville Physician)

coolsculpting acts locally and will only affect the treated area. It is not meant as a treatment to lose weight. It is really for sculpting the body and improving zones with pouches of fat that is resistant.

But it only improves the treated area. (Roni Munk, MD, Montreal Dermatologic Surgeon)

CoolSculpting – an effective, localized treatment for excess fat

CoolSculpting is a treatment that reduces fat volume only in the area in which applicators are placed. If you get a CoolSculpting treatment for your abdomen, then your chest will not be affected at all. (Jill C. Fichtel, MD, Columbus Dermatologic Surgeon)

Coolsculpting will not affect areas that are not directly treated. This is why it is critical to have your procedure done under the direction of a plastic surgeon with extensive body contouring experience. The fatty areas on your chest may be treated with a cool mini applicator.

Make sure your next provider has one. (Sacha Obaid, MD, Dallas Plastic Surgeon)

Doing Coolsculpting on your stomach will not effect other areas of your body, so your chest will not lose weight. Coolsculpting CAN be used on the fatty areas of a man’s chest, so consider seeing someone with extensive experience with Coolsculpting. (Andrew Campbell, MD, Milwaukee Facial Plastic Surgeon)
