Coolmini Double Chin Information
Can I use a combination of CoolSculpting and Kybella to treat my chin fat?
No this is not necessary and may result in over treatment and visible depressions in the chin and neck contour. My recommendation is to pick one modality and complete the treatment as recommended by your physician. (Richard Chaffoo, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
Kybella and CoolSculpting to treat under chin fat
It would be possible to treat someone with CoolSculpting and Kybella to reduce fat under the chin. You would need to space these apart however, as both treatments require several weeks to see results. Both of these treatments, when used alone, normally require more than one treatment session to obtain the best result so it is possible you would need multiple treatment sessions when using both.
Is CoolSculpting appropriate for face?
Currently, there are no areas of the face that are FDA-approved for treatment with CoolSculpting. There is a small applicator that is approved to treat fat under the chin in the upper neck though. I am not sure if you goal is only to reduce the fat in your cheeks or to generally rejuvenate your face.
If you are looking to rejuvenate the face, I would not recommend removing fat from your cheeks but would recommend a face/neck lift which would improve the laxity of skin in your neck as well as the jowls and marionette lines on your lower face.
It is possible that some eyelid surgery could be of benefit also. (Michael I. Echavez, MD, San Francisco Facial Plastic Surgeon)
The Cool-mini is designed for the fat in the neck area not on the face or cheeks. The adaptor is specifically designed for submental fat to get rid of your double chin and is excellent at that.
It cannot be used on the cheeks. (Michele S. Green, MD, New York Dermatologist)
Re-treatment with CoolSculpting
There is no maximum number of treatments you can do per area. However, keep in mind you should wait some time before re-treating the same area (seeing full results). When ready to re-treat, be sure you have enough fat to fit in the applicator and there is an adequate seal/ Always consult with a CoolSculpt trained Physician. (Keith Durante, MD, FACS, New York General Surgeon)
There is no maximum number for CoolSculpting an area. As long as there is enough fat to fit into the applicator, you can treat it. If you are not quite sure if you will need another one, maybe wait at least 90 days from the 2nd treatment to determine if you are still a candidate. (Jeffrey M. Hartog, DMD, MD, Orlando Plastic Surgeon)
Maximum number of treatments
There is no maximum number of treatments one can receive with Coolsculpting. The only limiting factors are- is there enough fat and does it fit well into the applicator? Consult with your Coolsculpting provider if they think you can honestly still expect some improvement in a specific area.
Honest providers will be just that- honest. It doesn’t serve anyone to treat someone unnecessarily. Chances are if your chin area is still soft and can fit into the applicator than you can have another treatment.
Is there a maximum number of CoolSculpting treatments that can be done to one area?
There is not a maximum number of CoolSculpting treatments that can be done to one area, such as under the chin with the cool mini. As long as there is some remaining fat, the area can be treated again.
Further fat reduction should be seen with each subsequent treatment. So, if you have seen some improvement after 2 treatments and you still have some remaining fat, you should see more improvement if you were treated again. (Michael I. Echavez, MD, San Francisco Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Limit on coolsculpting cycles in the same location?
You can absolutely go forward with additional treatment in the same area if desired. Each cycle should reduce the fat in the treated area by 20%. For patients with good skin quality, and the desire to avoid surgery, doing multiple cycles of coolsculpting can be a good option.
I would recommend for patients to be examined by a board certified plastic surgeon if multiple cycles are recommended in the same area. Surgery may be a better, and sometimes less expensive option if many cycles are needed to achieve your desired result. (Kelly Killeen, MD, FACS, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon)
