Comparing CoolSculpting And Liposonix

CoolSculpting Vs Liposonix

CoolSculpting is a completely non-invasive treatment that uses cold to destroy the fat cells and dispose of them naturally over a three-month period. There is absolutely no downtime and patients can resume life as normal – go back to work, go to the gym, even attend social events – immediately after their treatment.

Liposonix, on the other hand, is a more invasive procedure that requires a minor incision in the target area to then laser and “melt” unwanted fat on the body. Because it Liposonix is more invasive, it does render some downtime and is generally more uncomfortable than CoolSculpting because of this. (Louis P. Bucky, MD, Philadelphia Plastic Surgeon)

I am a board-certified plastic surgeon and I offer both SmartLipo (which is one form of Liposonix) as well as CoolSculpting. I tell patients that there is no comparison in what can be performed in one session when comparing the two treatments, as the Liposonix (which is more accurately described as laser-assisted lipolysis, as traditional liposuction is used in conjuction with the laser treatment) will be far more effective.
However, there will be significantly more downtime. If surgery does not fit your lifestyle and you are a candidate for both, you will most likely need to perform multiple sessions of CoolSculpting to achieve results comparable to Liposonix.

Ultimately, the cost may not differ much between the two, so it is up to you and your doctor to determine which treatment is best for your goals / lifestyle. (Renee Burke, MD, Barrington Plastic Surgeon)

How Long Does the Coolsculpting Procedure Last and How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Many of my patients would like to know how long the Coolsculpting procedure lasts after the treatment has been given. The answer is that the cells are sent into a pathway of cell death called, “apoptosis”.

This is a cycle of programed cell death. The cells are consumed by macrophages and excreted from the body. So to answer the question of, How long does it last”. It is permanent. This means that the cells which are deleted do not come back.
What may be noticed a the 3 month follow up visit is the adjacent cells are still present and thus may now be more noticeable. Therefor in this case an adjacent treatment will further enhance the patients great results.

This patient would be an very reasonable candidate to consider Coolsculpting; however, a tummy tuck is also a very reasonable option. The decision would be best made based on the patient’s goals and aspirations. (R. Brannon Claytor, MD, FACS, Bryn Mawr Plastic Surgeon)

Coolsculpting vs Laser Fat Reduction

Coolsculpting is very popular because it works very well and the results are comparable to Liposonix. The key is that Coolsculpting is such a comfortable procedure that larger areas can be treated more easily, and patients are more likely to get great results because they will come back for more treatments to optimize results.
Liposonix can be painful and it is a more uncomfortable procedure to sit through, and then have repeat sessions. (Kally Papantoniou, MD, FAAD, Great Neck Dermatologic Surgeon)

Coolsculpting Vs Liposonix (Liposonix)

CoolSculpting is a proven technique with proven results. Liposonix is much newer and does not yet have the track record of reliable, predictable results. It may be great but I would let other people be the guinea pigs. (Robert Graper, MD, Charlotte Plastic Surgeon)

Cool sculpting versus Smartlipo

Cool sculpting is great for small localized areas that fit the cool sculpting adapters well. Smartlipo is more versatile and aggressive. You really need to be evaluated on an individual basis to determine what is best. (Daryl K. Hoffman, MD, San Jose Plastic Surgeon)

CoolSculpting vs Liposonix

Laser Lipolysis Pic

Liposonix is a way to destroy fat cells under the skin using laser energy. Liposuction is usually done to remove the damaged fat, so laser-assisted liposuction a surgical procedure. Results are good for removing extra fat.

Laser does not “tighten” loose skin substantially, though, so don’t count on a smooth result if you have loose skin. CoolSculpting is an external, nonsurgical way to destroy fat cells. It’s not surgery at all.

It might take longer to do the procedure than to do liposuction, but you’ll see results a little quicker. Loose skin MAY smooth a little bit with CoolSculpting, but not substantially. Both options are permament fat removal options.

One is surgical; the other nonsurgical. (Carmen Kavali, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)

Fat: Freeze it or Fry it?

SculpSure On Flanks

Coolsculpting and Laser Liposuction are both very effective in eliminating unwanted fat…..and the two couldn’t be more different. Coolsculpting is a non-invasive treatment that kills fat cells by freezing them.

There is no incision and no downtime to speak of. Laser Lipo combines traditional liposuction with the intense heat of lasers to literally melt fat before it is suctioned out of the body. The heat allows for deeper results and it has the added benefit of helping to tighten loose skin.

There are a couple of very small incisions for the liposuction cannula and patients typically say it takes a week or so to recover from liposuction. Both options can provide excellent results, but they are very different. (Sarah A. Mess, MD, Columbia Plastic Surgeon)

Is Liposonix a Laserlipolysis Treatment?

Liposonix is not a laserlipolysis treatment. It’s an uninvasive treatment. “Laserlipolysis” is minimally invasive and it’s a SURGERY but “zeltiq, cryolipo, liposonix, etc” ARE NOT SURGERY AND NOT EFFECTIVE AS LASERLIPO! Slimlipo, smartlipo, prolix, etc are trade names of LASERLIPO. Take care… (Alper Tuncel, MD, Turkey Plastic Surgeon)

Coolscuplting vs Liposonix

Liposonix is the destruction of fat cells through the use of a laser which involves applying heat to the area and melting the fat cells. a liposuction cannula is then used to suck out the nonviable fat cells.

This is what constitutes the invasive component of the procedure. Coolsculptingis completely noninvasive with no anesthetic of any kind. It lowers the temperature of the tissue in the externally applied applicator just low enough to damage only the fat cells.

Your body then comes through and cleans up the no longer viable fat cells. Liposonix can cause injury to the surrounding structures such as the skin, nerves, and blood supply because of all of these are susceptible to burning.

This can cause more pain and downtime following the procedure. (Chad K. Wheeler, MD, Spokane Plastic Surgeon)

The Difference Between CoolSculpting vs. Liposonix

CoolSculpting is a revolutionary, non-invasive procedure that uses cooling technology to permanently get rid of fat cells without surgery. The fat cells are frozen and induced to undergo a natural cell death. Liposonix uses heat to liquify or destroy fat cells.

The heat which is generated can also damage the surrounding tissues. Though Liposonix is minimally invasive, it still requires incisions and the risks associated with the procedure include wound infections, fluid build up, downtime, and asymmetrical results to name a few.

The CoolSculpting procedure, on the other hand, is totally non-invasive. There are no needles, no incisions, and no downtime involved with CoolSculpting. CoolSculpting is much safer than Liposonix. Some people may experience redness, minor bruising, tingling, numbness or discomfort in the treated area, but this is temporary and will resolves completely on its own.

You can resume your normal activities immediately after your treatment. (Michael A. Zadeh, MD, FACS, Sherman Oaks General Surgeon)
