Time Between CoolSculpting Sessions

Generally if you are treating a different area, 5 days is fine,if this is going to be a second treatment to the previously treated area, we do recommend to our own patients to schedule each session about 4-6 weeks apart to give the body time to heal.

It may be best to bring up your scheduling concerns with your surgeon prior to your next treatment. (Brian K. Reedy, MD, Reading Plastic Surgeon)

Time between coolsculpting treatment

It is usually recommended to wait a month before retreating an area with coolsculpting. Some physicians will treat one area in the same day consecutively, but the results of this have not been studied. Usually, there is some persistent swelling and inflammation present for a few weeks.

Retreatment during this period could lead to negative consequences such as nodule formation or irregularities.

In addition, because of the swelling present, the second treatment may not provide much in the way of results. (Kyle Coleman, MD, New Orleans Dermatologic Surgeon)

Retreat too soon?

If you are treating a different area, like your abdomen, going back in 5 days is completely okay. If you are doing a second treatment on the same area of your thighs, you should wait about 2 months. (Carmen Kavali, MD, Atlanta Plastic Surgeon)

Not if it is the same area. Different areas could be treated. We create areas with slight overlap in the same sessions because we have two machines and dual CoolSculpting can be more efficient for treatment of multiple areas but we don’t treat 5 days apart. (Robert Whitfield, MD, FACS, Austin Plastic Surgeon)

It would be fine to have CoolSculpting performed 5 days in between treatment if you are treating different areas. It sounds a bit unusual to treat the same area 5 days apart. (Jerome Potozkin, MD, Danville Dermatologic Surgeon)

CoolSculpting treatments one week apart

There would be no problem treating a different area with CoolSculpting five days after the first session. In regards to treating the same area again, this will vary by physician. My preference is to wait about two months before retreating an area.

This is so some result can be seen prior to treating the area again. I do not think there is any harm in treating the same area 5 days later, it’s just that you would not be able to see any results from the first treatment prior to treating the area again. (Michael I. Echavez, MD, San Francisco Facial Plastic Surgeon)

Coolsculpting one week apart

The earliest we treat the same site is one month, and that is based off of recommendations from the company. I would ask how many times they have done this before and what the results have been like.

If you would be their first, I wouldn’t risk it. You could always have your second treatment somewhere else if you are moving, or at a later date as recommended.

Of course treating other sites even the next day is no problem at all. (Stacey Folk, MD, Denver Plastic Surgeon)
