CoolSculpting: Numbness is Normal
Numbness, tenderness in the treated area, and firmness, are all normal following a CoolSculpting treatment. The “stiffness” is likely some bloating and swelling in the treatment area, which is also a normal and expected side effect of the treatment.
All of the symptoms should dissipate by the day. For some patients they last only a couple of days, and they can linger for a few weeks in some cases.
Some of our patients like softer pants and compression garments in the days following their treatment, but you should be back in your jeans in no time! (Vincent Marino, MD, Scottsdale Physician)

Numb and tender post Coolsculpting…
Coolsculpting is a painless procedure with no needles, no risk, and no downtime. Side effects are minimal and can vary from person to person in terms of both what you will experience and how long those symptoms will last.
It is normal to have symptoms for several days and up to several weeks but for most people the majority of the post treatment irritation will dissipate within 5-7 days. Tenderness, swelling, firm tissue, itchiness, and numbness are all normal and can occur in any combination.
With the new Cool Advantage applicators these sides effects are much milder and tend to resolve much faster than with the traditional applicators. If you have any questions post treatment it is best to contact your treatment provider as they will have a comprehensive list of what is normal and when it will typically resolve itself. (Marcia Fleming, MD, Vancouver Physician)
These are all normal sensations 10 days post Coolsculpting, and they are a combination of swelling and nerves recovering. They should begin to improve for you very soon and most patients don’t complain of any abnormal sensations once they get to 3 or 4 weeks out.
Very rarely these symptoms persist and we have prescribed a medication called neurontin to help with the discomfort but this is quite rare. (G. Robert Meger, MD, Phoenix Plastic Surgeon)

All of the symptomsare very normal following CoolSculpting. These can last from a few days to a few weeks or month. The firmness of the fat is related to the inflammation or damage created by the cold application and I like to tell my patients that this usually means that you will have a great result so that is actually good that you are noticing this.
Most patients will start noticing early results around 4-6 weeks while final results are seen 3-4 months following treatment. (Mary Beth Mudd, MD, Columbus Physician)
CoolSculpting safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target fat cells below the skin’s surface. Treated fat cells are frozen and then die off. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells.
Each session will eliminate approx. 20%-25% of fat cells in the targeted area, so it is likely you will need more than one treatment to achieve your desired result. The eliminated fat cells will not return; they are gone forever. (Shamim Shakibai, MD, Los Angeles Physician)
If you desire Non Surgical Fat Reduction you do appear to be a nice candidate for Cool Sculpting.
CS is cleared for the reduction of the fat layer but doesn’t tighten skin. Just make sure you go to a reputable Plastic Surgeon office that offers cool sculpting so that the RN gives me great info and options for your goals.. (Robert Heck, MD, FACS, Columbus Plastic Surgeon)
