Losing weight after Coolsculpting can only improve your result. Coolsculpting is best for removing stubborn pockets of fat and will reduce that area around 20% per treatment.
I would however recommend not gaining wait after Coolsculpting in order to better maintain your results. (Michelle Ellern, DO, Livingston Physician)
Will losing weight immediately after CoolSculpting affect results?
Losing weight after CoolSculpting will not affect results. When you are gaining or losing weight, the number of fat cells stays the same, but they change in sizes. After CoolSculpting, you are removing a number of fat cells per treatment area (20-25 % on average).
This area will now have less capacity to fluctuate is size with weight changes, as there is less fat cells. (Alain Michon, MD, Ottawa Physician)
Weight Loss After Coolsculpting
If you lose/gain weight after your coolsculpting procedure, it will not have a direct effect on the results of the treatment.
However, if you do start to diet and lose a few extra pounds it can improve the overall appearance after treatment since the rest of your body will be smaller and blend with your results.
If you gain weight, the treatment area will remain smaller than the surrounding areas because coolsculpting kills fat cells whereas gaining and losing weight causes fat cells to grow or shrink, respectively. (Stanley Kovak, MD, Oak Brook Physician)
If you loose weight following CoolSculpting, it will usually improve your results.
CoolSculpting is a good treatment for modest body shaping of localized fat. If you loose weight following CoolSculpting, usually you will look even better. I would recommend a face to face consult to see exactly what would be best for you. (Mark Taylor, MD, Salt Lake City Dermatologic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting and weight loss
Fat cells are crystalized at the time of treatment and dye off over the next few days. It then takes several months for the body to break down and remove those cells. Therefore, weight loss immediately after coolsculpting wll not change the number of cells destroyed during the treatment, however, it will enhance the overall result.
The remaining fat cells will react to weight gain and weight loss as they normally would. (Jonathan D. Kramer, MD, Meridian Plastic Surgeon)
Dieting After CoolSculpting
You can diet and loose weight that may help with the figure that you are going for. Based on height and weight you are in a normal range as you stated.
While a 10 pound weight loss still keeps you in the normal weight range, I would caution against focusing too much on a weight “number” and focus more on a healthy lifestyle… namely a healthy, balanced diet and an age/health condition appropriate exercise program.
Diets are not a good idea for anyone and may make you less than satisfied with the CoolSculpting if you are on the upswing of the re-gained weight. (Michael P. Dunn, MD, Gilbert Physician)
Weight loss after coolsculpting will enhance your results overall. I would recommend following a diet where you can maintain a good weight rather than fluctuating too much. Excessive weight gain can negatively impact the results of coolsculpting that’s why its not a weight loss procedure nut a fat loss procedure.
When you gain weight after coolsculpting its the remaining fat cells that will get bigger so still less number of fat cells getting bigger rather than the 100% of them. (Ramandeep Sidhu, MD, Issaquah Vascular Surgeon)
I don’t recommend losing weight and then gaining it back. Coolsculpting is good for removing stubborn areas of fat, between 20-25% in any treated area. (Jason Emer, MD, Los Angeles Dermatologic Surgeon)
