I have hmo, would it cover anything for a breast reduction?
Insurance coverage for Breast Reduction Surgery
Jan 18, 2016
There are so many different insurance plans out there, all with different rules and policies. From your description, you sound like a good candidate for the procedure, however some insurance companies "carve out" the reduction code from being covered regardless of medical necessity. The best thing you can do is seek out an evaluation from a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and have him/her submit to your insurance for pre-authorization for the procedure. From that, you will find out your...
Can I book a procedure (breast augmentation) on the first consultation?
Scheduling your breast augmenation surgery
Jan 17, 2016
Yes, I certainly think you can book your surgery following your initial consultation. I would say that the majority of my patients do this. Don't rush in to any surgery, but if you have done your research and know what you want, pending a thorough evaluation from your chosen surgeon to confirm that you are a good candidate for your desired outcome, there is no need to wait! Best of luck to you!
How long after nursing should I wait to schedule a consultation for a Breast lift?
Breast lift after breast feeding
Jan 15, 2016
I generally recommend that you not have surgery any sooner than 3 months after the cessation of breast feeding. This would also apply to the consultation--wait until about 3 months after you stop breast feeding. This time interval will allow the breast to return as much as possible to the pre-lactation state and will allow your doctor to most accurately assess volume deficiency and/or skin excess. The areola is typically reduced in diameter as a routine part of breast lift surgery, if...
Do I need to be concern after surgery? Sinus infection 3 weeks post opt.
sinus infection after recent breast augmentation
Jan 14, 2016
It is unlikely that an upper respiratory infection is going to infect your implants, but if you do feel that your symptoms are turning into sinusitis, it would be prudent to be seen by your primary care doctor for evaluation. Antibiotics may be indicated to treat the sinus infection, and that would be helpful in protecting your implants. Feel better!
I have 460 saline moderate implants right now and I'm switching to 650 silicone. Will I have a big di
Size difference with implant exchange
Jan 11, 2016
I think it is likely that you will see a significant difference with changing your volume by almost 200cc, going from moderate to high profile, and by changing from saline to silicone. If you want to get an idea of the approximate difference in how you will look with that volume change, it may be helpful to try on 200cc sizers over your current implants using a sizer bra. There will also be pocket adjustments I suspect, but this will give you an idea if that volume change is about...
Can I have multiple breast reductions done?
Multiple breast reduction procedures
Nov 30, 2015
You can most likely accomplish your goals safely within one year, but a thorough exam and review of your history would be helpful. You may be very pleased after a single procedure! Breast reduction surgery is very popular and highly effective for aesthetically reducing the breast and improving or eliminating the problems associated with very large breasts.
I have uneven nipples and no underboob. Is it fixable?
Constricted breasts
Nov 21, 2015
Breast augmentation with implants will very nicely achieve the correction you desire. Probably best with round, high profile implants, depending on the look you want. Circum-areolar mastopexy may also be beneficial.
Breast lift and implant, 1 week post op are different sizes.
Breast asymmetry one week post
Nov 14, 2015
It is very common to have mild asymmetry in the early postoperative period. I would encourage you to wait until at least 6 months post before deciding whether or not you have a significant asymmetry. Early on, the swelling can be quite different between sides depending on what position you are resting in and what hand/arm you use primarily. Lots of variables early on, and with time and healing most resolve on their own. I wouldn't worry at this point--you look great from what I can see in...
Do I need a lift?
To lift or not to lift the breasts
Oct 20, 2015
It is very difficult to tell from your photo due to the angle and only one view, but based on what I can see and what you say you are looking for, you would probably achieve very nice upper pole fullness and volume restoration with high profile gel implants. You need to be properly measured and sized to determine right volume, but I think you can probably forego the lift and just augment to get where you want to be. Good luck!

Diabetes and plastic surgery
Oct 9, 2015
With well controlled diabetes and careful peri-operative monitoring, you can certainly have a great recovery and result from a mommy makeover. It is important that your HbA1C is near normal, reflecting good long-term control of your blood sugar, and it is important that your glucose remains tightly controlled while you recover. You are at increased risk for problems like infection and slower wound healing, but I have operated on many diabetics with well-controlled disease and have been very...
Which implant weighs more; Silicone or Saline?
Which weighs more--saline or silicone?
Oct 1, 2015
Saline implants weigh a little more per cc than silicone implants, and silicone implants have many other advantages as well! Good luck with your surgery!
Can I can get my nipples pierced after breast augmentation?
Nipple piercing after breast augmentation
Oct 1, 2015
As far out as you are from your surgery, you should be fine to go ahead with piercing. Your risk for infection should be low if done with sterile technique.
For my mommy makeover, should I lose weight first? Am I considered overweight for the procedure? (Pho
Weight loss prior to surgery
Sep 30, 2015
I generally recommend that you get down to the lowest weight that you can reasonably maintain over the long term prior to having your surgery. Significant weight gain or loss following surgery can substantially change your result. Best of luck to you!
Can you get cool sculpting on your calves?
Coolsculpting on the calves
Sep 28, 2015
The calves are not an FDA approved area for Coolsculpting at this time. I would postpone this treatment until a proper handpiece and protocol is developed for this specific area. And of course, be sure to seek out an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist for your treatment. Best of luck to you!
I need help - what size will fill out my breasts better? 400-450?
Choosing implant sizr
Sep 27, 2015
Thank you for your question. It is very difficult to make a recommendation about size with pictures only. That determination is usually made based on measurements, skin tone, breast size, and patient preference, among other things. However, with the history of weight loss and anticipated further weight loss, you probably have fairly lax skin and could probably accommodate as much as 450cc to fill out your skin, assuming that your measurements can accommodate this size implant. I would...
