Answer Snippet
32 years old and 11s. Will Botox help?
Botox for the "11's" (Glabellar Furrows)
Jan 10, 2017
Botox works best for wrinkles caused by dynamic movement... i.e. movement of muscles causing the creases. As a result, it works well for lines between the eyebrows (so called "11's" or glabellar furrows) as well as crow's feet (periorbital rhytides). In my opinion best option to get consistent and good results is to see a doctor who performs a large number of these types of procedures.
Can a cap be worn immediately after procedure to hide the scalp while returning to work? Also how lo
Can a Cap Be Worn Immediately After NeoGraft Hair Restoration Surgery
Jan 9, 2017
As a general rule, yes, a cap can be worn so long as it does not rub onto the recently placed grafts in the recipient area. The main concern is to not dislodge or disturb the grafts. The donor site on the back and sides of your scalp can be covered with a cap. Best option.... discuss with your surgeon.
Concerns about a mole/skin abnormality (Pohto)
Concern about Pigmented Lesion
Jan 9, 2017
Best option is to see a dermatologist and have them evaluate the lesion. Learn the ABCDs of melanoma and see your dermatologist on an annual basis.
I had a nevus on my back removed over a year ago. It heals, starts to scab over, then bleeds again.
NonHealing Wound on Back
Jan 9, 2017
You should see a dermatologist and have them evaluate, likely with a biopsy. A non-healing wound is suspicious for a skin cancer. See your dermatologist so that they area can be examined and likely biopsied. Learn to perform a monthly skin self-examination while you are at it.
MOHS for lower eyelid: Does doctor numb the lower lid with drops or a needle? Can someone explain th
Anesthesia for Lower Eyelid
Jan 9, 2017
Best option.... talk to the Mohs surgeon. If the cancer is on the margin of the eyelid, drops may be used to anesthetize the cornea so that a protective shield (like a contact lens) may be used but most of the surgery will require a local anesthetic injected into the skin. Talk to the doctor about what he/she is planning to do.
Mohs skin cancer repair: If I have Medicare will this cost more money?
Costs for Mohs surgery and reconstruction
Jan 9, 2017
There is a charge for the Mohs surgery (removal of the skin cancer) and a charge for the reconstruction. Medicare covers each, but patients have "patient responsibility" which may be covered by your secondary insurance if you have secondary insurance. Best option.... talk to the Mohs surgeon or their billing department. There may also be a cost for the surgery center. Check with the office.
I had a small Basal Cell Carcinoma removed from my back. What are the chances I'll develop more BCCs
Chances of Another Skin Cancer After Your First Skin Cancer
Jan 9, 2017
You have about a 50% chance of another skin cancer within a few years of your first skin cancer diagnosis. Best option is to see a dermatologist at the time of your first skin cancer to have a complete skin examination from head to toe and repeat that complete skin examination every year with your dermatologist. In addition, have the dermatologist teach you how to do a complete monthly skin self-examination and do it every month. The early skin cancers are identified and treated the easier...
Do I need to get a skin graft immediately after MOHS surgery on my nose? Or, can I wait a few weeks?
Skin Graft Immediately After Mohs surgery
Jan 9, 2017
Best option is to discuss with the doctor who will be doing the repair. Some repairs can wait; some can be allowed to heal up by themselves and some are best repaired at the time of Mohs surgery. Talk to the doctor who will be repairing the site. Good luck.
Can I use scaraway on my nose skin graft scar? I had Mohs surgery 8 weeks ago.
Use of Scar Reducing Products
Jan 9, 2017
Best option is to talk to your doctor about what he/she would like you to use. Most successful scar improvement products (in my opinion) include silicone, either in sheets or gels. I  usually recommend Biocorneum (silicone and sunscreen gel) after 1-2 weeks.
Propecia after hair Transplant
Use of Propecia After Hair Restoration Surgery
Jan 9, 2017
It is an excellent idea to use Propecia after hair restoration surgery; in fact, it is an excellent idea to use it before, during and after surgery. After all, if you maintain or grow more hair around transplanted grafts will it look better than if you don't use Propecia (or Minoxidil) and androgenetic alopecia continues and you lose some of the native hairs in that area. So, in my opinion, it is almost always best to consider medical hair restoration options (e.g. minoxidil or...
HT question
Should you consider hair restoration surgery at an early stage
Jan 9, 2017
My recommendation is not to have a surgical procedure but to focus on medical treatments to hold onto or grow hair. Norwood 2 would not even be considered male hair loss yet. Think about Minoxidil or Finasteride or Low Level Light Therapy even. These are better options at this point. Good luck.
Is it true that coolsculpting doesn't work on people who had lipo in the past?
Does CoolSculpting Work if You've had Liposuction in the Past?
Oct 12, 2016
Short answer....Yes. Coolsculpting, like liposuction, works best for people with fat resistant to diet and exercise but are in good shape and whose weight is stable. Not sure why it did not work for you. Was your weight stable? Did you continue you exercise regimen? If those aren't the reasons, best option is to discuss further with the doctor who did the procedure. Good luck.
I am 22 yrs old (215 lbs) can I do a lot CoolSculpting sessions,(scared of surgery)? Risks in doing
CoolSculpting: Is there a limit?
Oct 12, 2016
Coolsculpt is best for people whose weight is stable because of healthy diet and exercise. It works best for areas resistant to diet and exercise. Having said that, there is no clear limit as to how many sessions or treatments can be done. Generally, about 25% of fat cells are killed with the first treatment and these cells are excreted from the body. If you need additional procedures, as a general rule, there shouldn't be any problems. Best option is to see a doctor who performs the...

Changing, Itching, Bleeding Mole. What to Do?
Oct 4, 2016
Go see a dermatologist right away. The ABCDEs of melanoma are A for Asymmetry, B for border (irregular, jagged or blurred), C for Color (red, white, blue, black), D for Diameter (larger than 5 mm or size of a pencil eraser), E for Evolving or changing. Not all melanomas have all of these characteristics by the way. Best option is to learn how to do a complete self examination each month. See your dermatologist. That pigmented lesion needs to be checked out right away.
Is there a way to get rid of beauty marks on the nose tip?
How to Remove Moles on the Nose
Oct 4, 2016
When they are tan or skin-colored, the easiest way to remove them is by shave removal. When they have pigment usually you would have to remove them and suture them close. Some might use lasers but the results can be incomplete and there is no tissue to examine microscopically. Best option is to speak with a doctor that does a lot of nasal surgery, whether that is Mohs surgeon, facial plastic surgeon, plastic surgeon. Good luck.
