How to get swelling to go down after IPL facial?
Swelling is common after IPL
Apr 13, 2018
Swelling is usually worse in the morning, so it can help to sleep with head elevated. Also antihistamines can help reduce the swelling, I recommend non sedating antihistamine, Zyrtec or Claritin, during the day and Benadryl at night.
How can I optimize my coolsculpting experience? (e.g. hydration level, electrolytic balance, fasting
Coolsculpting results and diet
Mar 1, 2014
I would advise to maintain your typical daily diet so the fat cells are stable. Coolsculpting is recommended for people who are close to their ideal weight and exercise regularly. It is not for weight loss. The fat cells will be destroyed by the freeze whether they are hydrated or not.
I am 60 years old, 5'1 and 132 lbs. Would I be a good candidate for Cool Sculpting?
Coolsculpting candidate
Mar 1, 2014
It is very hard to determine if people are good candidates for coolsculpting without actually seeing them. However, I have seen nice results in patients who have had liposuction in the past. I would encourage you to find a doctor in your area that has coolsculpting and seek a consultation. Often the consultation is free.
Does fat freeze really work?
Coolsculpting really works.
Dec 28, 2013
The ideal candidate for coolsculpting is someone who maintains a steady weight and exercises regularly. It does not reduce as much fat as liposuction, however it is noninvasive and very safe with no downtime. 20% reduction in the area treated is the expected result, some patients need to repeat the treatment to get further reduction.
When is Best Time to Get Second Coolsculpting Treatment to Same Areas?
Second round of Coolsculpting
Sep 7, 2013
In my practice, we do a second round of coolsculpting 2 months after the first session if needed. In our initial consultation, we assess each patient and give an estimate of the number of treatments that will be needed to reach their goal. We also try to give a time line for end results.
Hydrafacial or Microdermabrasion for Better Skin Tone?
Microdermabrasion helps clear clogged pores
Jul 21, 2013
Microdermabrasion is an aggressive exfoliation that has suction to clean out your pores. It has been around a long time but it is still a great treatment. There are some newer variations of microdermabrasion, including hydrafacial and silk peel. They are similar to microdermabrasion but add in hydration. So they exfoliate and have suction to clean pores, but they also hydrate as well. They both will improve the texture of your skin which will soften fine lines,...
Hyperpigmentation from Sclerotherapy?
Hyperpigmentation after sclerotherapy
Jul 21, 2013
Hyperpigmentation can occur after sclerotherapy. I see it more when hypertonic saline is used as the injectable. Since Asclera was approved by the FDA it is the agent that I use more often now. I like Asclera because it doesn't cause hyperpigmentation and it doesn't burn as it goes into the vessel. The darkening seen with saline usually occurs along the vessel but can also occur at the injection site. This can fade over time.
Light Brown Spots on Face: IPL?
IPL is good choice for brown sp
Feb 13, 2013
You could have an IPL treatment or a chemical peel. Either one will give you nice results and remove your brown spots. As long as you are not tan or dark, you said half Asian skin type, the IPL is a goof choice. For darker skin types I often prefer chemical peels.
How Long Should You Wait to Get a Facial After Receiving Botox & Fillers?
Wait 24 hours after Botox for a facial
Jan 15, 2013
I would wait 24 hours after Botox for a facial. Fillers can be moved around for several days. I would wait 7 days after fillers for a facial.
Is Re-applying a 12.5 TCA Peel After 1 Week Too Soon?
Wait at least 2 weeks before repeating a chemical peel.
Mar 25, 2012
You need to let your skin heal completely after a chemical peel before you reapply. It may appear that your peeling is over but give yourself another week before reapplying. I usually say wait 2-4 weeks for repeat peel.
I Cannot Afford Any Tattoo Removal Procedure. What's my Safest At-Home Removal Option?
Tattos can be cut out but sanding does not go deep enough.
Jul 5, 2011
First I would not let anyone that is not properly trained try to remove your tattoo. Excision, cutting out, a tattoo can be a less expensive option for removal than laser. You should see a dermatologist or surgeon and get prices. It may surprise you. It is much less costly than laser. The price depends on the size of the tattoo. Most sanding procedures do not go deep enough to remove the pigment from tattoos unless they are one color and done by...
Is IPL and Radio Frequency Hair Removal Treatment Safe for Someone with Type II Diabetes?
IPL is safe for use in type II diabetes.
Jul 4, 2011
Safety should not be an issue for you. However, efficacy may be more of an issue. Darker skin makes hair removal process harder because the light has a difficult time separating the color in your dark skin from the color in your hair. So, I agree with the other answer, try a small area or test spot before treating your legs.
How Good Does It Work a Lip Lowering for Gummy Smile? is Better Than a Maxillary Surgery?
Botox can lower the lip for gummy smile.
Jul 4, 2011
Botox can also lower your lip and correct the gummy smile. It is such a simple correction that it would be worth a try before you go to surgery. My patients have all been amazed that I could correct their gummy smile so easily. It doesn't take much, usually less than 10 units and only a short time. If it doesn't give you enough correction and you still need help with your bite, then proceed with surgery.
Perlane Swelling One Day After Lip Injections
Swelling after perlane
Jun 26, 2011
Yes the swelling will go down. I find benadryl and ice help the swelling go down faster. I usually prefer Restylane for lips but have used perane without any problems.
What is the Difference Between Dermaplaning and Microdermabrasion?
Dermalplanning versus microdermabrasion
Jun 14, 2011
They both provide exfoliation. However, dermalplanning also removes the fine white hair, peach fuzz, and microdermabrasion does not. My patients love the results from dermalplanning. Especially eliminating all that stubborn hair.
