Coolsculpting and weight loss
Coolsculpting is not for weight loss. It kills subcutaneous fat that doesn’t weigh very much. You may lose a few pounds with a treatment, but not major weight loss.
Coolsculpting treats subcutaneous, diet resistant fat that you can pinch, given you a much better look and decrease your waste size if used on the abdomen and flanks. (Shamim Shakibai, MD, Los Angeles Physician)
CoolSculpting is not a suitable treatment for weight loss. CoolSculpting is an excellent treatment alternative for contouring areas resistant to diet and exercise. However, CoolScupting is not a substitute for diet and exercise. (James Silberzweig, MD, New York Radiologist)
CoolSculpting is an excellent treatment for removal of stubborn fat pockets or sculpting specific areas of the body where one may desire better definition. It however is NOT for weight loss. It is generally recommended to be at or near your ideal body weight to achieve the best results.
If you desire larger volumes of fat removal then liposuction may be a more economical and time saving approach. Regarding large weight loss you describe a Bariatric surgery consultation may be more beneficial to your overall health and well being at this time. (Paul Pietro, MD, Greenville Physician)
CoolSculpting is not for weight loss
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss method. It is intended for someone who is at or near a healthy weight and has areas of diet and exercise-resistant fat. The only way to lose weight is by modifying your diet and exercising. (Janet Turkle, MD, Indianapolis Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting and weight loss
the coolsculpting is a treatment to contour fat bulges and is not for weight loss. You should talk to your PCP to see your options for weight loss but even bariatric surgery can cause 30-40 lbs weight loss.
Life style change and change of habits is really important here. (Parham Gharagozlou, MD, FACP, Walnut Creek Physician)
CoolSculpting is not a Weight Loss Treatment
CoolSculpting is great for the reduction of fat bulges. It is a cosmetic procedure and is not a weight loss procedure.
It is best to be near your ideal weight when doing this treatment to get the best results. (Jeffrey M. Hartog, DMD, MD, Orlando Plastic Surgeon)
Unfortunately, coolsculpting is not for weight loss and actually is proven that if you only do Coolsculpting and do not change anything with your diet or exercise, you will not lose any weight.
Now, I have seen patients use coolsculpting as a jump start to get them motivated to diet and exercise more and then have lost weight and their results are fabulous. Coolsculpting is generally meant for people who are within 30 pounds of their goal weight, and just have stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. (Amy Brenner, MD, Cincinnati OB-GYN)
CoolSculpting not weight loss
Coolsculpting is not for weight loss. It is designed for sculpting the body by targeting areas of persistent fat accumulation. Get close to your ideal weight and then use coolsculpting to target specific areas of concern.

Coolsculpting is not for weight loss ( as well as liposuction ). These procedures are for contouring the body . If your weight is over 300 lbs , Coolsculpting is not recommended . Your BMI should be below 30 before you attempt Coolsculpting for body contouring.
Diet/exercise are your best options. (Drew Varano, MD, Washington DC Physician)
I wouldn’t think of Coolsculpting as a weight loss procedure. It reduces small pockets of fat in the patient who is fairly close to their ideal weight and has a BMI of 30 or less. Larger patients can be treated with the Vanquish, but still, it is not a weight loss device.
For weight loss, bariatric surgery is needed, such as gastric bypass or stapling. (Steven F. Weiner, MD, Panama City Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Can coolsculpting help you lose weight?
The simple answer is no. Coolsculpting is not a treatment to lose weight. It only removes the fat that is pinchable, and will not do anything for the other types of fat, like the fat around your organs (visceral fat).
Coolsculpting is more a contouring / sculpting treatment. (Alain Michon, MD, Ottawa Physician)
No. CoolSculpting can reduce the fat you can pinch or subcutaneous fat. Visceral fat or fat in and around the organs is not treated with the CoolSculpt.
It is highly recommended that you lose weight through a medically assisted weight loss program before CoolSculpting, especially if you have a lot of weight to lose.
This will not only help your appearance but increase your overall health, prevent or reverse disease states and allow you the ability to do more. CoolSculpting can then be done to tone and contour what is left after the hard work you put into losing the weight!. (Jeffrey Goldstein, DO, New York Physician)
