if it just a benign mole it should present no issue. If there is any suspicion that it could be any kind of melanoma or premelanomatous lesion, coolsculpting should be delayed until it has been excised and time allowed for the scar to strengthen to minimize the risk of stretching or widening the scar. (William H. Jervis, MD, FACS, Walnut Creek Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting over a mole
I can think of no reason why you could not have Coolsculpting in the area of a mole. Treatment does not affect the color or appearance of your skin.
Likewise, the presence of a mole or other skin discoloration would not affect how much fat you loose in that area.
If you have an ongoing rash or skin breakdown in the region to be treated, I would certainly recommend you wait until that area has healed. If you are concerned that the mole is something more serious, I would recommend you have it evaluated by your primary care physician or a dermatologist. (Matthew M. Dunham, MD, Colorado Springs OB-GYN)
Coolsculpting will not effect the skin during the treatment, therefore, it is ok to undergo the treatment with a mole in the same location. (Russell G. Hendrick, Jr., MD, New Orleans Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting and Birthmarks
As long as you have had your mole checked in the past and are cleared from your derm, CoolSculpting is safe. Fatty tissue freezes before any surrounding tissue and therefore will not affect skin or birthmarks. (Steven Costalas, DO, Bryn Mawr Physician)
Coolsculpting and moles….
There should be no contraindication to have coolsculpting over an area of skin that has moles, however if you have not had a full skin exam for a skin cancer screening I would see a dermatologist before having any treatments if you have a skin growth that you are concerned about. (Kally Papantoniou, MD, FAAD, Great Neck Dermatologic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting in area of a mole is fine
There should be no affect on the mole. Make sure you point out the mole so it is check out prior to make sure it is nothing more serious than a benign lesion. (Steven F. Weiner, MD, Panama City Facial Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting Provides Improvement in Body Contour That lasts!
The presence of a mole should not affect your results with Cooolsculpting. Moles are frequently present in Coolsculpting sites and are not affected by the treatment. I would recommend a consultation with a Plastic Surgeon well versed in Coolsculpting. (Andrew T. Lyos, MD, FACS, Houston Plastic Surgeon)
There should not be any issue with CoolSculpting over a mole, but notify your provider before treatment, just so they are aware. CoolSculpting only targets the fat cells, so it should not affect anything on the skin. (Jeffrey M. Hartog, DMD, MD, Orlando Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting with a mole
The presence of a mole should not affect the ability to perform CoolSculpting. The mole should also not affect the results that you could achieve with the procedure.
Additionally, the CoolSculpting should not affect your mole. (Michael I. Echavez, MD, San Francisco Facial Plastic Surgeon)
