Cool Mini for Knees with great results
The cool mini is a great way to treat the fat around the knees. I have successfully treated the fatty region in the knee region. As long as the tissue can be drawn into the applicator, you should be able to get some awesome results with the cool mini.
I suggest seeing a board certified physician who has experience with CoolSculpting to make sure you are a good candidate for the cool mini. (Michele S. Green, MD, New York Dermatologist)
CoolSculpting can help treat the fat deposits around the knee. I’d suggest consulting with an expert in the field to discuss the best treatment options, as there are other treatments such as Kybella which are used to treat fat.
Kybella is approved for use on submental fat, but off label it can also treat fat around the knee. (Jason Emer, MD, Los Angeles Dermatologic Surgeon)
Can coolsculpting (cool mini) treat fat deposits around the knees?
Cool Sculpting can be done on the inner knee and works beautifully to remove the bulge in this area. In fact, I have had this done myself! The mini is not used as it is too small, but two of the standard hand pieces work very well, depending on the shape of the knee.. (Janet Woodyard, MD, Baltimore Plastic Surgeon)
CoolMini can be used for fats deposits around the knees. I do, however, often find that these deposits are large or fibrous in texture, in which case #ybella may be more effective.
I am using a Kybella for bratops and lipomas as well. (Sheryl D. Clark, MD, New York Dermatologist)

Coolsculpting mini is a great treatment for small pockets of fat, like those around the knees. Please see an experienced physician for a consultation to see if you are a good canidate for this treatment. (Michelle Ellern, DO, Livingston Physician)
Cool Sculpting around the knee?
Yes, the cool mini can be placed near the knee depending on the amount of tissue you want improved upon. When you get your assessment just be realistic about the amount of improvement you’re seeking.
It’s a small applicator. In my practice we do that area, just make sure it matches your expectations! (Robert Heck, MD, FACS, Columbus Plastic Surgeon)
Some people are using the new CoolMini applicator to treat localized pockets of fat on the knees. I think the best non-surgical treatment for the knee area is ThermiTight which can treat the fat and loose skin at the same time.
Liposuction would be another option, however, it is a surgical procedure with more risk and downtime. I recommend an in-person consultation with a physician who offers multiple different treatment options. (Michael A. Zadeh, MD, FACS, Sherman Oaks General Surgeon)
Coolmini treatment of knee fat
If the fat can be fitted/sucked into the handpiece, it can be treated.
It is great for small fat pockets all over the body. We use the Zimmer Z wave after all treatments to maximize results and decrease pain. (Steven F. Weiner, MD, Panama City Facial Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting around the knees
The CoolMini CoolSculpting applicator was cleared by the FDA 2015 for treating areas around the knees, under the chin, and in front of the armpit. (James Silberzweig, MD, New York Radiologist)
Fat above the knee and CoolSculpting
Currently there is no applicator that will fit that area well. It is an area that liposuction has helped some and in others it can make more of a shelf if the skin sags further down after the fat removal. (Ronald Shelton, MD, Manhattan Dermatologic Surgeon)
Cool sculpting Knee Fat?
Whether you will be a good candidate for the cool sculpting technology will depend on if the area of concern will fit into the suction “cup” of the cool sculpting machine. If so you may have a reasonable result ( 20% reduction) with the treatment.
Otherwise, you may be an excellent candidate for liposuction of that area. (Tom J. Pousti, MD, FACS, San Diego Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting by Zeltiq for Fat Around Knee
Unfortunately at this time CoolSculpting is not ideal for the knee area. The limitation of this technique is that the machine needs to have a suction appliance that contours exactly to the body area to be cooled.
Presently the device is optimal for the abdomen and the love handle areas. It is likely that in the future, the company will develop devices for other areas such as the arms and the knees.
Stay tuned and in the meantime, standard liposuction to your knee area is very effective. (Carlin Vickery, MD (retired), New York Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting recently came out with a new FDA approved applicator called CoolMini
CoolSculpting recently came out with a new FDA approved applicator called CoolMini that can effectively and safely be used to treat small areas of fat such as under the chin, the armpits, and yes, the knees.
I recommend visiting a board-certified dermatologist for an in-person evaluation to make sure that you are a good candidate and to come up with a custom treatment plan. (Margaret Weiss, MD, Baltimore Dermatologic Surgeon)
Thigh fat is difficult to treat with Zeltiq
I’ve found it nearly impossible to treat medial knee and medial thigh fat with Zeltiq. The treatment head is not designed for these areas. It works great for abdomen, flanks, dorsal rolls etc- assuming you are an appropriate candidate.
On the other hand, liposuction using small cannulae works exceedingly well in this region. (Scott C. Sattler, MD, FACS, Seattle Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting for fat around the knees
There currently is no applicator to treat the fat in the knees. Coolsculpting has two applicators for the inner and outer thighs to treat stubborn fat in these area. If the problem is loose skin then Thermage may work well for you to tighten this area.
Thermage would be the best non-surgical alternative since it treats the sagging skin through radio frequency heat and no pain and no down time. I hav seen patients get liposuction and the loose skin afterwards looks worse than the fat.
I am currently having excellent results with my patients in this area with Thermage. (Michele S. Green, MD, New York Dermatologist)
Coolsculpting for fat above knees
Coolsculpting works great for removing fat and typically reduces 20% with one one hour treatment. Treating the legs may be less consistent but should work and should be assessed by an experienced Coolscultping dermatologist and one that can adequately assess your likelihood of results and risks. (Steven Hacker, MD, West Palm Beach Dermatologic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting For Knees? Try Kybella or VASER Hi Definition
I find that liposuction of this area is best but i have used kybella with good success. I follow all my treatments with venus legacy to this area. (Jason Emer, MD, Los Angeles Dermatologic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting on knees
The new CoolMini can be used to treat unwanted fatty bulges around your knees. I would see your local Coolsculpting provider to consult what would be best for your individual needs. (David P. Rapaport, MD, FACS, Manhattan Plastic Surgeon)
While not officially studied for the knee area the newer applicators can be used on the inner aspect of the knees. You would need to be evaluated first though for skin tone, amount of fat, etc. before recommending the coolsculpting. (Asaf Yalif, MD FACS, Roswell Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpt can help with fatty knees. Keep in mind that you will need up to three treatments for best results. (Ruth L. Hillelson, MD, FACS, Richmond Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting has been successfully used on the stomach (abdomen), flanks, thighs, and neck, it has not been officially studied or approved on the knees. You should always have a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon as we have the most technology that can be used here.
in fact, several years ago our clinical research organization here in Nashville published the first skin tightening article on research we performed using Ultherapy for this concern. There are options out there for tightening the knees, including Ultherapy and several of the radiofrequency devices – and CoolSculpting is usually reserved for fat reduction. (Michael Gold, MD, Nashville Dermatologic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting can sometimes be used on the knees, especially with the new coolsculpting mini applicator. There are also other non-surgical options for the knees such as ultrashape. (Reps B. Sundin, MD, Washington DC Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting can be used on the the thighs and knees in some circumstances. It would depend on the exact location of the excess fat. Please consult with a coolsculpting expert to determine if you would be a candidate. (David Finkle, MD, Omaha Plastic Surgeon)
