There are three options you can use for neck fat. Firstly coolsculpting is a good nonsurgical option if the applicator fits around your neck. It doesn’t fit in everyone. Secondly you can use fat dissolving injections called belkyra/kybella which are a great option for people who don’t want surgery and the coolsculpting applicator doesn’t fit.
It can be combined with coolsculpting. You may require multiple treatment with the nonsurgical options In my opinion Vaser liposuction is the best way to remove fat in the neck. I have tried laser/ bidytite/ traditional but vaser gets the smoothest result with skin tightening.
If you have the downtime then I feel this is your best option. (Joseph Ajaka, MD, MBBS, Sydney Physician)
CoolSculpting For The Chin
CoolSculpting for the chin is a very new treatment which is why you are not seeing an abundance of before and after pictures. It can be effective in appropriate candidates whose double chins are mainly due to fat accumulation and not sagging skin.
For best results 2-3 treatments are needed. There are other options including ThermiTight, Kybella and Ultherapy which may be more appropriate. You will need an in-person consultation and evaluation to determine which treatment is most appropriate for you. (Michael A. Zadeh, MD, FACS, Sherman Oaks General Surgeon)
CoolSculpting Works Great for Double Chin
CoolSculpting works very well for double chins, but you have to be a good candidate. The size of your chin and the amount and location of fat determines how good of a candidate you are.
On average, you can see a 22% reduction in the amount of fat in the treated area. If you have a significant amount of fat in the area, two treatments (usually 4 weeks apart) may be necessary.
Most providers will offer you a discount for committing to multiple treatments. (Garry K. Kim, MD, Pasadena Internist)
Under chin fat treatment
Coolmini, Kybella before any other treatment, I would have to see your picture to better assess. Kybella is phenomenal product and we get amazing results with the appropriate treatment. (Violetta Mailyan, DO, MS, Glendale Physician)
Double chins can be due to either excess fat or loose skin. CoolSculpting is a good choice for those with excess fat. It will not treat loose skin. To determine whether it is appropriate for you, I would recommend an in-person consultation with an experienced provider.
There are also options available to treat loose skin under the chin. (Michael A. Zadeh, MD, FACS, Sherman Oaks General Surgeon)
What you need is based on what is causing your double chin. We need to figure out whether you have extra skin or excess fat. A photo or an examination is required. (Arian Mowlavi, MD, FACS, Orange County Plastic Surgeon)
We are loving the cool mini applicator to treat the submental fat! It works amazing and has no downtime! An in-person consultation is necessary to evaluate if this is the correct treatment for you to achieve your goals and treat your concerns.
That said, we have nine coolsculpting machines and have been doing it since 2009, so come in for a complementary consultation with one of our specialists who will advise you on the best treatment plan for you! (Grant Stevens, MD, Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon)
Is CoolSculpting of the chin effective?
The Coolsculpt Mini hand piece for under the under the chin is very new (we just got ours last week and have been waiting for months) so you are not going to see a crop of new photos for a little while.
This hand piece is a little different from the others, but the concept is the same that the cold creates an injury isolated to the fat, and it will resorb over the next 1-2 months.
Down time is not a significant issue. Proper evaluation is necessary to see if the hand piece will fit you, and if you are a good candidate for fat removal alone as compared to a more aggressive procedure like a neck lift.
Hopefully you can be seen in a plastic surgery practice where they potentially can offer you everything. They will be more realistic than a practice that can only offer you coolsculpting. I am super excited about this hand piece, and love that Zeltiq always does such good research before they bring their products to the doctors. (Stacey Folk, MD, Denver Plastic Surgeon)
Coolsculpting would be an appropriate treatment for you. Most patients need 2 treatments. Another option would be Kybella, an injection that dissolves fat. I would have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to go over your non-surgical options. (Jeffrey B. Wise, MD, FACS, Wayne Facial Plastic Surgeon)
CoolSculpting has been known to give great results in the chin area. You may also want to consider Kybella, and possibly a combination of them both. Visit a local physician who can determine the best course of action after an in person consultation. (Janet Allenby, DO, Delray Beach Dermatologist)
CoolSculpting for Double Chin?
While CoolSculpting is great to treat areas of the body such as the stomach, love handles, thighs, arms, and back, it is not suitable to treat the face or neck. A nonsurgical skin tightening treatment such as Ultherapy or Exilis would be better suited to reduce the appearance of a double chin.
Ask your board-certified dermatologist which treatment would be best for you!. (Karen Beasley, MD, Baltimore Dermatologic Surgeon)
In my opinion coolsculpting would not be appropriate for the chin. The treatment requires an applicator that would fit The contours. This is not available. Consider utilizing radiofrequency, ultrasound, liposuction or precistion tx. A New FDA approved injectable will be available soon to dissolve the fat.
However, it does not tighten the skin. (Jeffrey Rapaport, MD, Englewood Dermatologic Surgeon)
As of now there is not an appropriate applicator to treat the double chin with CoolSculpting. Other options would include neck liposuction, smartlipo, ultherapy (if there is loose skin), or surgical neck lift. (Michael A. Zadeh, MD, FACS, Sherman Oaks General Surgeon)
