No Pain After CoolSculpting, Did It Work?

If I have little pain, does that mean Coolsculpting doesn’t work

There is no correlation to amount of pain and the results. In fact, the new CoolAdvantage handpieces are much more comfortable and lead to less pain afterwards as well. This is probably what your are experiencing.

These handpieces give better results too. Addition of Z Wave gives 60-100% improved results as well. (Steven F. Weiner, MD, Panama City Facial Plastic Surgeon)

No pain

Each individuals pain tolerance is different, so it is not uncommon to not have pain from Coolsculpting. Some describe it more as a tenderness, or a bruised pain feeling.

Some patients have no pain. The numbness is common and should start to fade away soon.

With the new Cooladvantage applicators we are seeing lots less pain and less bruising. We are happy to hear that the new technology is working like it’s suppose to! Keep on with your health lifestyle and await those amazing results you will see. (Jennifer Cova, DO, Dayton Physician)

No pain after Coolsculpting

Coolsculpting is advertised as having no down time. It should not be painful. Slight swelling, bruising, and numbness is completely normal but if you didn’t experience these symptoms it does not mean the treatment was not effective.

Numbness in the treatment area should also subside in another week or two. You may start to notice a difference in how your clothes fit and results should continue to improve for 30-90 days after treatment.

Follow up with your Coolsculpting provider for any concerns you may have and for post treatment evaluation. (Jeffrey Hinton, MD, Johnson City OB-GYN)

Many patients have no pain AND wonderful results with CoolSculpting

Actually experience of having some swelling, but no or little pain and soreness after CoolSculpting is very common. In fact, that is actually how the systems were developed. Numbness after the treatment is normal, especially in the lower abdomen, but do NOT think it’s not working.

Remember, when fat cells are frozen they die and it will still take 6 – 12 weeks to notice any changes. (Brian Hass, MD, Palm Beach Gardens Plastic Surgeon)

Be happy!! A lot of patients have no pain, the great advantage of cool sculpting, and get great results. (Nancy Becker, DO, Puyallup Otolaryngologist)

Everyone’s pain response is different. If you have some numbness that means you have swelling. It takes time for the fat cells to dissipate. It may take 2-3 months to see your final results. (Peter Hyans, MD, Summit Plastic Surgeon)

Coolscupting results

The new CoolAdvantage applicator is far more comfortable and some patients may not feel much discomfort after the procedure. Usually it takes at least a few weeks before your start seeing results, up to 12 weeks.

It is still early. In the future, you can see a clinic that is offering the Zwave Pro in combination with CoolSculpting treatments for better and faster results. (Alain Michon, MD, Ottawa Physician)

One of the stated reasons to use the “advantage applicator” is to allow shortening of the treatment cycle down to 35 min, and less discomfort when compared to the first generation applicators. Pain/discomfort is very subjective you tell us you are sore and numb this would indicate things are working.

Just give it time and you will see the results you were aiming for. (Paul Pietro, MD, Greenville Physician)

Mimimal Pain

You’re doing well! We often don’t hear much about pain other than an ache. Some people feel the numb feeling that can be distressing. The fact that you have minimal pain doesn’t mean the procedure didn’t or won’t work.

Hang in there. Usually at about 2 months the real results start to show. (Steven Costalas, DO, Bryn Mawr Physician)

No pain … No Gain

We all know the saying “no pain no gain”. However does that apply to non-invasive fat reduction techniques? The question is not did the treatment work. The question is Will my results meet my expectations.

Many times non invasive techniques are appropriately selected by the provider for the patient based on their body habitus and their desires for ultimate goals. However sometimes there can be greater incentives for nonsurgical treatments due to the decrease costs and ease-of-use that may influence the selection of Treatment, which may not take into consideration of all facets of treatment options.

Over the past few years of treating patients with coolsculpting I have noted a wide variety of reactions and sensations from the treatments. Some patients have a pulling or burning sensation during the treatment and others have felt little to no discomfort at all.

Certainly the massage is an important part of the post procedure algorithm and thus, massage can also be uncomfortable. Check back with your provider for a follow up and talk openly and honestly with them about your goals and desires.

Look closely at your pre-and post procedure photos. More often than not patients need several treatments to achieve their desired results. (R. Brannon Claytor, MD, FACS, Bryn Mawr Plastic Surgeon)
